UMI + NAV 4 Update in Canada (Part Number)?

Hi,

I have a 2010 GLK (one of the first builds, delivered mid-2009) that has the Universal Media Interface (UMI) ... but it is what I assume to be the first version without the upgraded Nav functions.

Has anyone in Canada (Toronto) upgraded to include the UMI+NAV4 functions? If so, what part number was required? I'm finding 2048707696 through web searches but not sure if that applies to Canada?

Also, will any further hardware be required or is this a straight flash upgrade?

Many thanks

I have the UMI Nav4 in my 2010 C300 but have not been able to find a Nav update either. I understand it is done directly via the USB port when it is available.

My UMI doesn't have Nav - I want to upgrade it to Nav + 4.

I've ordered a flash stick from the US. If it works I will post back.

You do require additional hardware which installed would be about $2,000. Then it works like a factory Nav except without Voice Command. I really like it!! We use the iPod connector daily (just leave nano plugged in) and the Nav function is great, fully integrated. It is the same unit for the C300 as the GLK.
Here is a video I made after I had it installed in 2010.

Thanks for video.

I'm confused though. Did your c300 already have the first generation UMI installed? The UMI in my GLK is the first generation (that is - it has all functions except NAV). I thought just a flash upgrade will add nav functionality?

I just had the Audio 20, then had to have the Nav+4 installed by the dealer. I think you will need to add hardware to get the Nav function.

I had the UMI installed in my 2010 GLK...it has NAV.
To activate NAV press and hold the button to the right of the round control dial near the cup holders...

Ha!

Thanks for this. I didn't have the manual and with no NAV button, I had no idea how to turn it on. I held down the "CLR" button as you said... turns out the UMI + Nav is actually installed in the truck ... and it just isn't the media interface as I first suspected.

Kial - I've ordered the upgrade stick for the maps and +NAV4 upgrade as it looks like I have the old graphics / maps. Part number is 2048707696 at genuinemercedesparts.com. I will report back after I upgrade it.

I upgraded the UMI Nav Software + NAV a few days ago using part 2048709696. This is the newest version. I bought it from genuinemercedesparts.com and did the upgrade myself. See my post here - https://mbworld.org/forums/5366507-post40.html.

In short, responsiveness is much better. It was worth the upgrade just for that. Still bummed that the NAV will not mute the radio or not play when on the phone when directional instructions come up. If anyone knows how to do this/if it is possible, please let me know.

The NAV directions are also showing in the middle of the speedo now. Dealer had to properly code the cluster.

If you wish to mute the driving instructions, hold the microphone button on the steering wheel. It takes a second but it is then muted. Also there is a mute option on the main Nav screen. Hit 'back' and you will see it. Hope that is what you were looking for.

I don't know for sure. I am sure they can just add the media interface as it is an after market option. Call the dealer.
