Do you ever start your car and think....

Man this thing sounds funny. Like it is low on oil or something? Just almost even sounds like a disel with the clak clak clak. Not sure if is just the way it is as the other 2013 I test drove sounded the same. It really just doesn't sound as smooth as I would think a MB would. Mine is a 2013 with 500 miles on it. Thanks in advance.

2013's come with direct injection engines so it should sound like this from the outside, they all do more or less

What does your car sound like and feel like from the driver's seat?

Just as an update... As time goes on as I now have 1600 miles on the car it is so strange how it is running. I need to make an appointment for service ASAP. When the car is started it will sometimes turn on and then literally turn off like the Eco Stop. At least 3 times now I have started the car and it is like the car has a huge old shool Cam where the rpms are dropping to 250 then shooting up to 1100 and it is running ruff and ready to die until i put it in neutral and hold the revs. Really dissapointing me and I can't make it happen often enough. So I know I will take it in and get the typical we can't duplicate the problem speech.

That doesn't sound right. I had something similar happen when I first got mine. But thankfully it hasn't happened since. The one time it happened the car ran all rough and crazy with the idle shooting up and dropping down just like you described. There was all sorts of stuff coming out the back as you could tell the fuel wasn't all getting burnt. The dealer said it was because I started it and stopped it within a minute and then restarted it again later leaving unburnt fuel in it. Not sure I believe it. I tend to think it was just a bad tank of gas. Because I happened to get gas at the same place again recently and the exhaust smelled very strongly of sulfur just like it did when I had the issue many years ago. I have been avoiding that gas station since.

I haven't seen anything shooting out the back and I always use the Shell station right by my house and have forever so I really don't think it can be bad gas. The first time it happened the car had been sitting for about4 hours since the last start and I thought it was just a fluke but then it has done it two more times since after several different tanks of gas. Guess I better bite the bullet and take it in.

If it were mine, I wouldn't hesitate to take the car in to have it checked out. Who knows, you might get lucky and the service department can pull a code or two out of the computer. Sometimes weird events get recorded [?]

I think you should take it in. If it happened once then just a fluke or bad gas. But to happen more than once something might be wrong.

On mine they couldn't find any codes. So I just guess it was bad gas. Funny thing is both times I've smelled sulfur from the exhaust it's been just gassed up at a shell station.

Its fine the new DI engines sounds like that. The C350 loaner I got for 2 weeks have the same sound and ask the dealer about it and was told normal engine sound for the new DI engines.

I am ok with the way the engine sounds but I am pretty sure the sputtering and the RPM variation is not right. I am sure they will tell me it's normal but I will take it in to have a paper trail for down the line in case something happens.
