Texts On Command
Hey everyone. Just curiuos if I am doing something wrong but I can't get texts to sync with the command unit. I have a 2013 and an iPhone 5 which I would assume is compatable. I have delinked and relinked and tried everything under the sun. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks so much.

I just picked up my 13 GLK yesterday. Asked the sales person about text messaging. He stated it isn't available right now but "coming". I have an iphone 4 and he has a 5. I trust this guy, it's my third MBZ from him, been working with him for years.

iPhones barely work.
Many features do not work with iPhones but do with almost everything else.Even loading contacts is an awkward, multi-step process that needs to be updated manually to stay current. I did expect that these issues would be fixed for the 2013s though. Quite disappointing, MB!

How to get Texts from iPhone
After some head scratching and some goggle-ing I figured out how to get texts to show up in the GLK from my iPhone. For this to work you must have iOS 6 installed on your phone. Open Settings, then Bluetooth. From the Bluetooth menu you should have a list of devices your phone has paired with. Your GLK should be listed as MB Bluetooth and should have a small blue circle with a right carrot (>) inside, press this to go into the options for that device. Under the Options page for MB Bluetooth turn on Show Notifications. Now when your iPhone is paired to your GLK the Texts selection is no longer grayed out. Now for a couple of caveats. You may have to remove MB Bluetooth from the device list in your iPhone and re-pair the phone to your GLK to get the Show Notifications option. I have tested this with my 2013 GLK with both an iPhone 4s and an iPhone 4. I would think that the latest iPhone the 5 would work as well but do not have one to test. Some pictures from the phone are attached for clarification.

I assume that will help with the contacts to be sync to the car from the iPhone?!

That's all I would get at first as well, try selecting Forget this Device, then re-pairing the phone to the GLK. I had to do this with my 4s before the other options would show up. My GLK is a 2013 so your mileage may vary, but it would be worth a shot.

iPhone with SMS
Thanks for the info. Mercedes Benz customer service says SMS will not work with iPhones. After turning on "Show Notifications" in my iPhone 4 (with the updated system 6), still cannot get text message. The screen does show the option active. ANy suggestions?

Not sure why it's not working for you, have you tried removing the car from the device list on your phone and re-pairing? I have noticed with mine it will only show new texts, once I read it either in car or on the phone it will not show up under Command anymore.

I did re-pair the phone once and I delete the phone from the car and forgot the car from the phone, should I try couple more times ?

Tried it all - repairing - resetting Show Notifications, etc. Still no text messages. Screen shows Texts enabled (not greyed out) and incoming Text tone sounds through speakers. Tried all with my iPhone 4 (current system) and wife's 4s.

I was confused at first too, when I got the text tone through the GLK's audio system because nothing was showing on the screen. I then clicked on Text Message along the bottom of the screen while in "phone" mode and selected it. An unopened envelope came up with the name of the sender. Also got a message that I couldn't open it while moving. Also noticed that if the message sceen was active on my phone, the text would not show up on the GLK. Phone had to be on home page.
