Removing lower door trim

Does anyone know if the lower chrome door trim is just held on by double sided tape or if its also held on by plastic clips that snap into small holes.

Thanks for the help

Sorry, I do not know how the trim is fastened. Question: why are you removing the trim?

I'm going to paint match everything on the merc. If there are no holes in the doors then they will get removed. I just wanted to see if any one has removed one or replaced one

Wouldn't your servicing dealership have the answer? I'm sure they could find the answer in their service manuals, exploded views, and all that [?].

I'm sure they could but I'll ask Dan since he works in the MB body shop. I'm headed up that way to pick up some new emblems when I return.

After doing some research the lower chrome door trim on all 4 doors is held on with double sided tape.
So today I removed all the lower chrome door trim using my heat gun and pulling it off pretty slow.
And then I used an eraser wheel on the end of my drill to get all the remainder of the tape off.
Then used some prepsol to clean the areas where the trim was.
Then I buffed all 4 doors out with #3 3M fine perfect it and then added a coat of wax. The car will get a full detail after I'm finished paint matching everything.
Sorry for the crappy pics, I'll get some better ones tomorrow

Just a heads up on the lower chrome trim on the corners of the rear bumper:It is held on by a bunch of plastic clips that snap threw the rear bumper. So if you plan to remove it, the mounting holes will have to be shaved and the rear bumper cover repainted.
