HELP...which option has power folding side mirrors?

Please help.

Is it standard feature for 2013 GLK?

I could not find anywhere mentions power folding side mirrors. The sales told me need to add premium package.

Not offered on the 2012 model. Clueless about 2013.
[rant] Who decided that we needed power folding mirrors anyway? A solution to a problem that doesn't exist. [/rant]

Where are you located??? USA or Canada?

In Canada, mirror packaged is included in basic price.
This package ncludes Heated, Power-Folding Exterior Mirrors.
Or check out this link for other options: http://www.mercedes-benz.ca/content/...ialEdition_tag

I still don't understand the need for power folding mirrors. Something else to break. The GLK mirrors are already tiny. Why would you need to fold them?

To get into tight parking spots... yes in some cities there are spots that tight.

I wouldn't try to park in such places. That does not describe any part of Canada that I have driven in. Nor Belgium. Nor Hungary.
Following that line of reasoning, you couldn't open the doors after folding the mirrors and parking.

HEHEH... you obviously have not had the opportunity to visit Italy!!! 3/4 of the cars/motos in Rome are missing 1 or both of their mirrors! It's a way of life! Tight streets, vandals, people that don't give a sh-t!
I hear you, you're in USA!!!!... but there are a 'few' tight streets in your country! LOL!
I like the feature...
My am paper delivery kid used to deck my Murano mirrors all the time. I'd get in check my mirrors and ^&$#@ about him as I open the window to snap it back into position. Oh... before you suggest the garage as an alternative, the Ferrari gets that spot... and the wife owns that spot in the winter! LOL!

Usually it's not the spot that's so tight but the entrance, generally in underground parking where the spot is between two pillars. Once past the pillars there is enough room to open the door and get out.

There have been a few vacations where I wished the rental car had powered folding mirrors. Places like Tokyo and Jerusalem come to mind. Haven't been to Hungary but Belgium certainly didn't seem too bad in comparison.

Power Folding mirrors not in USA 2013

We looked for this option in the USA but it does not exist.

However the power passenger adjustable lumbar support does! It is not cataloged in the USA - we were pleasantly surprised. I do not know how you get the adjustment. Heated seats? leather Q01 or P01? We took delivery on the GLK 4matic with leather Q01 (P01 sans pano roof), almond/mocha leather that looks like a designo package with stitching and piping.

WE're using 19" wheels but getting a set of 17" wheels and tires for the winter. Pirelli Ice/Snow 235/60/17 H is the only available.

Why fold-in mirrors? A Ford 350 "duelly" with extended mirrors took off one of the mirrors from our G500 while the G was parked.

So now we have the discipline to fold them all in as we leave the vehicles.

Love the power folding mirror of my 535i. Hate to see this feature is not available in 2013 U.S. GLK. I fold the mirrors in the following situations.

1. Automatic car wash.
2. Tight space.
3. Any public place where there is a possibility of stealing mirrors which are about $200 each.

Can be added after the fact. Any car can have folding mirrors if the parts exist.

Can a US MB parts dept get Canadian parts? So one orders the Canadian parts and has them retrofitted to the USA system? Will the US electronic recognize the parts? I'll have to check if there is a system programming option for this feature on US Comand.

Sounds dicey-pricey.

MBUSA dropped the ball on this one, methinks. We're used to folding mirrors manually but would have preferred the power option.

BTW have you seen the arm that sticks out in order to wash the Zenon headlights? How does that work if you're doing a long trip and the snow and ice builds up on your bumper? Great idea from the EU safety nannies.

Forget the fold-able, I like to have the cameras in the mirrors.
although the ones in the Rovers reported to be always not working when needed.
See the operating instruction pdf

Glad I took Driver Ed & learned how to parallel park!

1. How about web cams in the mirrors?
2. What component in a Rover is not "reported to be always not working when needed?" (sic)
3. Read the attachment. See the heading above. Amazing. How much time does the dealer take to teach you this procedure? With practice, how long does it take to follow this electronic conundrum?

We do have the backup camera and like it once you get used to it rather than checking mirrors, etc.

Take the VIN of a car that has it and order the parts you need.

I really appreciate folding mirrors (power or otherwise) on those big, fat-*** little ***** trucks that park 12" from the curb on the narrow street that leads into our neighborhood (and if they fold them, of course). Those who insist on parking more than 6" from the curb and refuse to fold the mirrors are imbeciles.

Has anyone measured how far the manual folding mirrors reduce the overall width of the vehicle?
Well? Have you?

Folding the mirrors prevents them from being stolen???

Compared to what, the powered folding mirrors? I would assume both powered and manual folding mirrors are the same size.

My guess is 7 inches, let us know when you get the measurement.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

Anyone with a Canadian 13 GLK4matic with folding mirrors willing to PM their VIN?

BTW have you noticed how the parking spaces in new malls are narrower than those that were built 20 years ago? An informal check yesterday showed all kinds of mirror dings in SUVs and trucks parked in a new strip mall. Need a Leaf or a Smart car. I'll make sure I measure the width of the old and new spaces and report back with the difference.

Indeed, many of the modern condo-like developments have narrowed their streets. Like the OP said, can't get the truck or the soccer-SUV in the single narrow garage, leave it on the street, don't know how to park, and their mirror is in the traffic stream waiting to be hit.

Manually folding back the mirrors becomes a habit like locking the car or parking away from other vehicles but having power folders is a welcome convenience that suits an MB.

There is no way to completely prevent the mirrors from being stolen. But folding them in gives thieves a little more trouble and a little more risk. Otherwise, it only needs few minutes to pop out the mirrors from their housing.

Just did, and the manual fold mirrors don't fold anywhere near flush to the windows, so I'm assuming manual vs power fold are two different designs. Completely unscientific, but leaning against the driver door looking straight ahead using a tape measure against the window, the mirrow unfolded extends 9" and the mirror folded extends 6.25", so the fold saves 2.75" per side?

Darn, my guess was 1.5 inches off.

I just now grabbed my tape measure and eyeballed mine. It appears that the side mirrors stick out about a whopping 3.5 inches beyond the car body. That includes the slight flair around the wheel wells.

I' m 'whelmed (as opposed to overwhelmed). And I still hate little ***** trucks with 16 inch mirrors hanging out while parked 12+ inches from the curb

PS I also did KP at the Last Supper. Saw Wayne there. He was dishwasher and I was DRO.
