New Generation GLK
Hey everyone,
Is anyone planning on waiting for the new generation GLK? I've read some articles about, this is one of them.

It would be more active if it weren't so difficult to navigate! Getting from one model board to another is a pain. Not so with similar boards.

Thanks, you revealed to me my illogical frustration. I think when I visit more often the 'newness' will take care of things. I've subscribed to the forums as you suggested, plus I read all the instructions. I just needed a kick in pants that you provided!

Change in 2015 is likely. My largest concern is whether the body shape will become a jelly bean as other manufacturer's vehicles. Love the current body style & that it is available in 2 RWD or 4 AWD. There is talk of ventilated seats in 2015 too which would be nice here in the Southwest.

...on jelly beans
Based on
with the GLK designers it seems unlikely that GLK will go the direction of ubiquitous jelly bean too soon. I've also toured both the (Sindelfingen) factory and the (Stuttgart) Museum and in each instance MB stresses their pride in making incremental changes to model form over time.

Recently there was something on one of these forums about the impending changes. Couldn't find it here in the 'News' so it must have been another board I frequent.
The article said much the same as the referenced article here except it stressed the changes were made to make the car more off road friendly. At the same time it was mentioned the track would be widened a bit as would the wheel base. I can understand the track for off road friendly, but not the wheel base. It also said the exterior would remain basically the same with subtle changes. Nothing about power best I recall but the running gear is what is undergoing the Scandinavian tests.

Here's hoping they keep the GLK shape evolutionary not revolutionary.
Keep it looking like its big brother the GL & not like it's big sister the ML.

I have yet to order my GLK, but this is a sticking point for me. Looking for a good solution to minus-size the wheels/get a higher profile tire.

Based on "normal" MB engioneering schedule the X205 would be introduced as a 2017 model and for US start shipping Fall 2016.
That said - no "real" info will be available until way after the launch of the upcoming GLA - since MB will need to decide the "future" focus of the GLK as compared to the market/demographic impact of the GLA.
That said-said - you can reasonably expect the target for the X205 to be USD$50K plus - versus the original target of the X204 was $40K plus - fueled by the fact that "loaded" 2014's in the $50K+ range have become the top sellers as compared to lesser equipped X204's in the low $40's - meaning eve3n MB is pleasantly surpised at the increased consumer demand for more-full-featured GLK's that have come up in the 14 model year.
Competitively - the single strongest "features" appreciated by the consumer now with the GLK - cabin headroom as compared to the "squashed down cabins" of other compact SUV's - and the 350 V6 -delivering V6 torque and power as compared to more anemic competitors.
X205 will be very likely to "drop" the V6 in competitive trend higher efficiency 4's - the 250 4 is down home zippy fun - as Mercedes continues to make engineering/tech improvements to the turbo 250 - model year 2017 should be real fun !

I've been trying to find a dealer who can order the 17'ers, and sadly all are reporting they are unavailable - it doesn't appear they're blocked for order in the NA market, but perhaps they're only shipping them on new cars, not selling independently?

I agree; no jellybean styling!
I'd also like to see them put the damn shifter back on the console where it belongs...

The styling I saw on the camouflaged car looked like the current model as best you could tell. As I posted previously a wider track and longer wheel base.
