2010 GLK 220CDI 4M BlueEFFICIENCY
There has been quite a few rumours with regard to the release. My guess is spring/summer timeframe 2013 - as MB finally seems to have resolved the injector issue, after nearly three years, using us as test pilots/victims.
300000 owners are now in a process of having their OM651 engine Delphi piezo fuel injectors replaced by reliable (?) magnetic ones.

I'm waiting for one also. The last semi official word I had was February, 2013. Somewhere I heard it was to be moved back to April.
If indeed it will be available in February, the dealers should be advised in December. They know nothing either, at least the several I've contacted. I'm looking for April. If so, I'll take European delivery in May.

Two weeks ago, my dealer told me that I could order a GLK250 for February-ish delivery. I was curious.

I just had call from the dealer advising me the car was available to be ordered now. It will be introduced in February, and European delivery would be available shortly thereafter!!!

Ordering is open for FEB production which means a late march/early april introduction (that includes ED vehicles, until they are released in the US you cannot pick up your car in Germany).

What is about the 250 you guys are excited about ?
I was told two weeks ago, by another dealer, that they had no information yet. After reading this, I have a call into my salesman at my dealer. If they are available to order, I will be ordering one. I have been waiting for it for 2 years. GL 320 will need new tires in a couple months, and I would prefer not to buy a new set for the next owner.

An inline 4 cyl with 100 ft/lbs more torque than a 350 and 34 gpm.

The 220 CDI GLK was "launched" late Spring 2009 and the injector issue came to public early autumn (fall), September time frame. The first fixes came February/March 2010 and went on (we had last recall December 2011!), without resolving the problem. Not until some time this year, 2012, is the concept with the piezo injectors left, and replaced by solenoids. Meaning, we've by MB been used as QCs for 2 - 2½ year in their struggle for resolving the issue.
There are about 300.000 OM651 owners affected, a great number of us with injector failures, and I just can imagine how many Lemon Law claims would have been lifted if the GLK CDIs until now had been sold in US. So I bet MB now will gain some experience with the "rebuilt" OM651s before make them available for the North American market. That's why my guess is as said.

My guess "spring/summer timeframe 2013" is based on the story of the injector disaster.

BTW, I was told by my dealer that the GLK 250 can be ordered now, but the dealers do not have their allocations yet, nor do they have the packages that will be available. If you put your name on one, you will be able to configure it before it is scheduled. He said they are expecting 90 days for delivery.

I was told by a European source that the problem was not the injectors but rather the depth of motor. The oil pan was too large and interfered with either the drag link or some other steering component.

The piezo-injectors are made by Delphi, was a new design for the OM651s, different from the systems from Continental and Bosch, whose reliabilty may be proven.

GLK 250 ordered
I placed an order on 12/13/2012 for a 2013 GLK 250 here in Northern California. All the same options were available as on the GLK 350, except that the the GLK 250 is only available with AWD, and the AMG and appearance package wheels are both 19 inch with different designs. The only detail the dealer did not have was the base MSRP. I was told to expect April delivery.

I used the European Delivery price as a baseline. The dealer gave me 7% off total MSRP (when determined), including delivery fee. My price ended up being almost identical to European Delivery, the difference being that I have to pay 93% of the $905 delivery fee. I could have picked up an in stock 2013 gas for about 10% off, but I figured the extra 3% was a small price to pay for the diesel. Our other car is a 2011 Jetta Sportwagon TDI and I really enjoy the MPG and torque advantage.

Who was your dealer?
A couple of years back when I took European Delivery on a E350 BlueTec there were a couple of dealers out of California, one in Texas and one in Florida that I know of, who were discounting the European Delivery another 1%-2%. I couldn't find one in California last time, but this next time I'll take US delivery anywhere. Anyone know a dealer that will discount European Delivery now?

Put deposit down in january with features desired - was told this week by the dealer that mine was on the boat but had to be cleared through Atlanta. So, if my dealer is right, it looks like mid March - at least for me here in Florida.

Brunswick, GA is the port of entry. M-B has a large clearing & truck loading facility about 1 1/2 miles from the dock where the transport ships dock.
My GLK landed on a Sunday night and rolled off the truck in Tyler, TX on the following Saturday. Your GLK should arrive in Florida sooner than that.
Enjoy!

Dealer did say GA - I presumed Atlanta so that is on me. Looking forward to finding out for myself just how fuel efficient this vehicle actually is. That is one of the main reasons I purchased the 250.
