E class wheels on GLK (Pic inside)
Hi guys, I have posted lately about the idea of installing an E550 wheels into my GLK for winter, I bought the set on CL from a guy who just ordered them from MB dealer, they were OEM MB wheels
Anyway, I just have them installed this week after a hustle finding the right bolt lugs for them and got them installed at local Kal-Tire
The tires I got are Goodyear Ultra Grip Performance. As we had a much of a snow past couple a days the GLK was ready just on time, however, I haven't notice any better on the tires yet. Maybe because I got them used too but the tire shop says they were almost brand new so the seller told me, I don't have problem with compact snow, nor the slushy road but in black ice with a curve on the road, the car will start to skid a bit and maintain the stability itself even on a low driving speed 40KMH !!
I had a Subaru Legacy last year on the winter an I had a Yokohama Ice Gard that I bought brand new and I was pleasant with them, this year with a GLK been drove in a bad weather condition for 2 days I am not happy so far and Kinda worry about myself and my little one
Here is the picture and any thoughts about driving GLK on icy road will be appreciated

4matic or not 4matic? If not 4matic, be careful! On black ice, you really need 4 wheel drive (like your Subaru) and studded tires.
I once drove 200 miles on ice in a Trooper II with 4WD and Bridgestone all weather tires. I had zero problems controlling the Trooper. I rarely drove over 25mph, or 42kmh. So, if you had problems at 40kmh with 2 wheel drive, SLOW DOWN.

I like the e-wheels, looks like they work out just fine.
I seriously considered a set of aftermarket E350 wheels in 17" and get some SUV tires.
The conti's that came on it are stupid expensive and they're coming up for replacement at 20K miles.
Mercedes has gone with all low profile tires on their cars, most are now staggered too so no more rotating tires.

Is that what 17" wheels & tires look like? What size tires are they? I thought the sidewalls would be taller-wider than that. I have 216/65-16 on my wagon and the sidewalls look more substantial. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm........I reckon my 20s look just fine.

BTW they are 18 in not 17 and they were for 2009 E550

They were 18 and the tires size are 235-55-18 Goodyear Ultra grip performance, the offset on the wheels are 38 or 35 I am not sure but for the GLK the offset are 46 I've been told that they will be off a bit and might cause some damages but I see them just fine !
