2012 dash vs 2013 dash..
So I just dropped off my 2013 GLK to get a tire/wheel repaired. I was loaned a 2012 GLK. The dash isn't as fancy as my current vehicle, but the lighting behind it is different. In my 2013, It looks as if it's LED back lit. There's a certain "look" to my current vehicle's dash that I actually don't care for too much. It has a jittery look to it, making me think it's lit by LED's.
My rental has a very solid, steady look to it. Does anyone know if the 2012 (which is the year of the rental) has LED backlit dash lights, or is it something different than the newest models?

Our 2012 has a lot of LCD text display & adjustable perimeter lighting around each circular module. I suppose the gauges are lit too. Never paid a lot of attention to it. It's pleasing. Unobtrusive. Like good lighting should be.

Meanwhile, the round dash A/C vents are enough to make me glad we bought a 2012 and never want an E wagon. That's saying a lot. I didn't like round vents in the 60s. I still don't like them.

I actually like the round vents vs the previous dash design.
What I found was that the large diameter vents allow more airflow at lower air speed (high volume, low pressure), so there much less noise from the vents and much less "draftiness" feeling. The cabin air moves slower, but more volume, and quieter.

I LOVE the round vents. To be honest, the interior's upgrade is the main reason I splurged and bought brand new VS. used.
The gauge cluster having a flickery/LED look to it its the only thing that's bothering me.
And after seeing the gauge cluster in the 2012 and how non-flickery/standard LCD-ish it was (yes, it is much simpler as well), it kind of made me upset I like THAT part better, but that's about it. - because it looks smoother and "tighter" than mine.
