Weird thing happened...
The 2013 GLK has a 'rollup' door over the ashtray/cigarette lighter. I put my credit card on the door, as it is nice place to store things like you're phone. A while later I realized I couldn't find my card. It had slid up into where the door rolls in. I immediately thought how annoying it would be to have to take apart the center console to get my card out, I couldn't just leave it there as it started to jam the rolling door.
I gathered my tools, and like a light bulb coming on, I took the duct tape. I folder it over on one end and stuck it to the door and rolled the door up, and pulling on the tape and opening the door, the card came right out.
Don't leave any cards there, the car will eat them.
Here's a picture of the interior, with the slatted rolling door in the center below the air/heating controls:

Think I like your combination better, just can't get past round vents.

Heheh!! The 'RED GREEN' solution....
For those unaware of Red Green.... He's a tv hick (Canada) that promotes duck tape for everything. Ha, he could use your idea on his next show!

Actually the there is another bottomless pit area of the glk where you should not be putting anything thinner and smaller than a credit card like parking tickets or parking pass, it is the gap where the dashboard meets the windshield. I have I think 6 or 8 parking pass that fell on the gap and no duct tape can get it out.

Credit card slid in rolling door
-Kozak
Did you do anything else along with the duct tape? The same thing just happened this me this morning. The rolling door also is jammed now and will only slide open 3/4 of the way. Any additional advice would be great. Thanks!

I'm having a hard time understand how you did this? Are you you sticking the tape to the underside of the door? Wouldn't you have to make a loop to make it double sticky sided and then close it?
Any elaboration would be greatly appreciated as I've lost 2 cards to this ****er now

Slider door still won't open
I had the same problem, credit card went in. I got it out with duct tape, not easy but after fishing for half an hour the card came out. But, the slider door still won't open more than 2 inches, like it hits something. It doesn't open enough for me to get my fingers in to get some keys that I need to get out, the ashtray is blocking the way. How can I get this thing open to get the keys? I'm tempted to break out the slider to get inside. It's pretty and the inside is not so pretty. Is there some special tools and techniques that only dealers know how to do, is it, like, taking apart the entire inside of the car for $3000? I'm wondering if the credit card pushed an electrical wire into one of the tracks or something, or the back edge of the slider door got a little damage so that it is catching on something. I'm working blind. Thanks to anyone who has some feed back on what is my next step. If I don't get the keys out (mail box key, pool key, etc.) then I have to pay for those.

I bow before you in respect, oh Great Kozak79. My dealer was going to charge 1.5 hours of labor to tear the center console apart to retrieve my credit card. Five minutes with the reverse duct tape method did the charm. Many thanks, oh Great One.

Tried and Failed!
So I tried the Duck Tape method and got something else out that I didn't know was in there but I think I ended up pushing the card further. I believe this because the sliding door doesn't stick anymore and is fully functional. Does anyone know where that gap ends up and how to get my card?

Credit card vs duct tape!
Many THANKS to Kozak79. Worked on first attempt. You must fold the tape at the end. Sticky side must be down against the door and also be facing up. Open door, close and the card should rear its head.
