Need some Advise! Just bought a 2013 GLK!
Hi Everyone,
I am about to become a proud owner of a new GLK (Well my wife!) and need some advise!
The dealer is recommending some add-ons and was hoping you could give me some advise about the options:
Add Diamon Fusion (windshield protection) Aftermarket $1299 MB Brand $1699 - includes 5 years of rock chips or $4000 worth of windshield damage
Paint Protection $499
DK9000 Rust Module $999
3M Coating $1299
60 month Tire Protection $775 (I am thinking that I should get this!)
2 year additional Extended warranty
I have checked at highly recommended body shops and the 3M and Paint would only cost me about $800 (as opposed to dealer pricing of $1800!!)
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

You dont need any of it...another attempt at a dealer gouging the public...better to drop your pants and spread em
Windshield Protection....what a rip off! Wow really!...
Paint Protection....Wax it yourself or pay a detailer to do wax it...
Rust Module....MB Factory Rust coatings is already very very good...if you want added protection get it sprayed yearly at Krown or Rustcheck (w/no drilling though)
3M coating....get it done cheaper somewhere else for around $300
Rim protection....might consider, but deal them down to a lower price

Yea those prices are insane. I've had my GLK since 4/2009(70k miles to date). I've had the windshield replace only once by Mercedes Benz@ around $1200.00. The best part was that my insurance covered most of it. I'm assuming your insurance will cover it as well but do make a call to double check. An extended warranty is worth having if you plan to keep it pass the factory warranty. Though you should be able to negotiate the price. If not walk away and more than likely you will recieve offers before your factory warranty expires. The best paint protection is a film. You may want to go to an independant shop for that.
Now the tire and wheel protection is a plus if you are in an area where potholes are common.

I would recommend 3M protection. Do a search, I posted pictures of an accident I had where it saved my car from what could have been much worse. You don't have to do the whole car. I only did the bumpers, cost me about $300 at the dealer.

the dealer wont budge on the tire and extended warranty but I am going to buy the Tire Warranty - i can decide if i am going to keep the car longer than the warranty and buy it then.
I booked an appointment with an autoshop who will install the 3M and Paint sealer for about $800!
Unfortunately it seems everything in Canada is more expensive - I wish I could get the 3M done for $300!
