Symbol "A" in Cluster

I have read the manual. I have researched the net, and read posts. There is one symbol which appears in the instrument cluster display which I just can’t find. It is the letter A with dash indicators to the left ( like light indicators). Maybe it’s been there for the 6 weeks I have driven this car - but I just noticed it last night. I seldom drive at night, so perhaps I just missed it. BUT the symbol is not in any of the manuals.

BTW - this is my second GLK and I absolutely love every part of it. WE (the wife) managed to total our 2011 - as was the other vehicle. Neither of us had so much as a scratch or later pain.

It is either the headlights set to Auto or High Beams set to Auto. There are 2x A's if both lights and high beams are set to Auto.

Yes that would be the Adaptive High-beam Assist. There is a detailed explanation of what it does and when it activates in the manual. You must have your wiper stalk depressed in the high-beam lock position for the A to come on. To disable it, just pull back your wiper stalk to its normal position. It automatically enables your high-beam when you reach a certain speed and no oncoming traffic is present.
