Wheel & Tire Insurance Pays Off

I got road rash on the AMG wheels on the drivers side, did not see that the sidewalk was broken and sticking out.Took it to Mercedes dealer in Delray Florida... they wanted $300.00 to fix...said my coverage was only for bent wheels.. I called the company that wrote the policy and they said as follows
1- coverage is for any damage or scuffing of the wheel.
2- Free towing if you get a flat up to $100.00 (I know Mercedes will come and change tire for free)
3- Any damage to the tire flats or whatever, they will replace tire., this coverage cost me $1000.00 and it is good for 5 years.
Sometimes or most of the time the service department does not know what they are talking about.
Wheels were fixed this afternoon, I also am having the ugly blue mercedes center caps replaced by the shiny chrome star!!

Is the policy through the dealer, M-B, or your regular insurance company? If dealer or M-B, does it have to be purchased from new, or can you buy it at any time?

What is the deductible?

Might need to check that out since the 20" Pirelli Scorpion Zeros don't offer any protection to the option twin-spoke wheels I have. And the wife sometimes parks by braille.

I purchased this insurance as well and yes it does indeed pay off!!

My front wheel got scuffed the same way while I was parallel parking (two weeks after taking delivery!). I chose to wait a bit before servicing it, and a few months later while I had my car at the dealership for service they put a dent in my other wheel somehow while it was in the shop. I gave it to them for a couple days while on vacation, they sent the rims off to the vendor, and now they look brand new.

MilesBFree,
The tire & rim protection was offered to me as "at time of purchase only". I think it was around 900$ CDN. There is absolutely no deducatble if anything happens and you don't get charged for any service - even if it was done by you intentionally.

That's the info I know...

Hi guys,

I found this thread and wanted to chime in....I have an S550 with aftermarket AMG rims in 20's. I had destroyed one rim beyond repair. I have filed a claim with them. Supposely they support aftermarket wheels which is why I purchased the insurance when I got my car from MB. I will let you know if this benefit of aftermarket is included and provide feedback as I don't see this experience listed elsewhere.

Thanks.

Another happy customer of safe-guard here.

I will note that since I purchased safe-guard tire and wheel protection in 2008, 2009, and 2012 the price has gone up incrementally. IIRC I paid around $800 in 2008 and $1,200 in 2012. I can double check the paper work if you'd like but maybe someone else can just chime in.

I would like to note that I had difficulty having a bent rim repaired under the 2008 policy. They insisted it had to leak air. Lucky for me they found a hairline fracture in the rim.

I also have the rim and tire protection.
Last month I had my front passenger tire replaced due to a bubble.
It would have cost me $480.00 oh I did not have the coverage.
