Cargo Box/Carrier Question...

I just obtained this carrier off of the good old online classifieds that we all know of, for a frection of what the dealer was asking and half the price of a new thule or yakima...but, I have a question.

my box came with these bolts and I have no clue how it would fit into the factory cross bars...maybe they are for something else? maybe someone here can help, but it did not come with the instruction manual and I cant find an online instruction booklet.

I would assume that the bolt slides into the inner rail of the cross bar carrier and then you tighten it down inside the box...but, the bolts provided are either too big or too small for my rails...can anyone shine a light to what and how is this done?
BTW...the smaller of the 2 bolts fit fine and torque down fine but just seems a little too small for the inner rail sliding part. but im still left with 2 bolt options and no answers.

ill post some pictures up

as you can see the galvanized square bolt is too big to fit inside the rail, the black bolt fits in the rail fine and torques down fine... but, it doesn't look like it was meant for it.
any ideas?
the cross rails are for my GLK but Ive tried it on my friends ML and the rails are identical...so what am I doing wrong? or should I just shave the square portion with a grinder a bit until it fits???

The square bolts need to slide into the bars, like you tried, but are not for the MB factory bar. The other bolts are if you are mounting with a bracket.

Here is an example of a thule mounting bracket kit for the sidearm bike carrier:

Looks like you are missing some parts to mount it this way.

One option, measure out how small the square brackets need to be, go to your local hardware store, see if the can cut them to size.

thats what I was going to do if all else fails...but I found some round washers that fit perfectly in the rail and through the square end of the black carriage bolt...making it fit securely into place...
...I guess everything worked out in the end.

thanks man

Definitely the old school version. We had this back in the day. I was so concerned by the amount of parts in the box that I had a handyman install it. :\ The newer boxes are much more user friendly.
