Post your real world GLK 250 Bluetec MPG or L/100km

Finally I measured it myself, noticed already I can easily drive a loooooooong distance before filling.
This weekend drove from NYC to Maine and back. Mostly highway, drove gently, but didn't make any effort in being "green". 4 adults in, with luggage for the same group of 4.
Measured between fills, filled before I reset the trip, about 570 miles, warning came on, filled the tank, 14.5 gallons. Which means 39.31 miles/gallon. And the other way around : a bit more than 6 litres/100km.
Impressive I have to admit.
And I am still very pleased how well the GLK 250 BT goes on long trips, like a train. A very quiet, easy to drive and comfortable long distance highway cruiser.

Maybe I'm missing intentional sarcasm? If so, I apologize in advance.
DEF does freeze (at -11ºC) but does injection of DEF get halted during low operating temperatures? Once the car is started, the DEF tank is warmed up, thawing the fluid. I assumed that emissions control persisted even in winter.

Didn't see your post earlier. It's not to do with freezing. The Bluetec/DEF system apparently does not function below 10C. Discovered in Europe, but subject of a class action lawsuit in USA.

Subaru has similar interior and probably more cargo space than GLK, so pretty good for a gasser. Base model can be bought for really low price, but with upgraded seats etc, about 15-20% less than GLK.

I have a friend who owns a Subaru Outback. 4 cyl model. He last reset his fuel consumption computer last winter. A few days ago, it read 7.4L/100 or 31.8 mpg (US). My GLK was reading 7.1 for lesser period. Both with mix of highway/local driving.

It did have a bit more cargo space, and mine had the bigger engine, and by the time I sold it, it probably got around 17-18 mpg. It was hard not to use the power.
So the GLK gets roughly twice the mileage, and the level of refinement is not the same at all. Still, the Subaru was a great, reliable vehicle.

I just sold my Legacy GT to buy the GLK. It was a 2005, so the interior and amenities are light years ahead in the GLK.

I agree that they don't have Benz quality and finish, but still quite acceptable. Fuel consumption is a minor factor in car ownership so Subaru and some other gassers are worth looking at.
I still have 4 1/2 years of warranty left on my GLK, so no need to start looking at alternatives just yet. But will probably get a less expensive utility vehicle and maybe just lease it for max warranty period available.

Today, I drove from Burlington Ontario to Port Hope Ontario on QEW, 427 and 401 Traffic was flowing well but unusually slow at about 110km/hr in lane 2. Had best mileage ver at 5.8L/100km (40mpg). My wife took over and drove from Port Hope to Kingston. Trip consumption went up to 6.1L/100km (which means she was doing a worse than that. Didn't notice anything in particular except that we got very low on fuel near end and I got her to drive slower using the economy gauge as a guide (obviously didn't help)
One thing we found out, was that the range display only works down to about 50km. After that a Red Flag appears and you have no idea how close to empty you are! Based on the earlier figures at about 60km, we knew we could get to next gas station (and we did!) Filled up for C$50.50 at C$0.846/L (59.7L) Tank capacity for 2014 is apparently 66L.(17.4gal) On that we should have been able to go another 100km! But that range display had been on RED for some time and just before it came on it said we could do another 55km.

During this weekend drove from NYC to Syracuse and lake Ontario/Finger lakes area.
Lot's of traffic leaving Manhattan, naturally as it was a long weekend. Plenty of smaller roads, highways some cities too and stop and go roadwork areas. So a very mixed, but mainly highways. Measured 34 miles/gallon.
Which is a bit disappointing, I was hoping better this time. But also do know why.... my son drove most of the trip (learners permit holder) , and he gained a lot of selfconfidence during this weekend. But he has a habit of speeding of from trafficlights like it is a race ! And generally doesn't (yet) drive as smoothly as I tend (or try) to drive.
Also noticed on several times how big a blindspot GLK mirror has on your leftside. Meaning when You join highway and turn your head to side and look in the mirror we still several times completely missed a small car hiding there. We do have the alarmthingy beeping if there is something, so no real harm or danger, just noticed this. Tested it myself when I drove back, and yes there is a large area not covered by the left mirror.
Has anyone attached these small extra blindspot mirrors to their GLKs?

34mpg for mixed driving is about right considering your route. We get about 32-34 for similar.

Newbie
I'm new to here!!
I bought 2015 GLK250 and put 45.000 mile within one year. I get average 35.5 mile/G on computer. On hi way it self I had up to 43 mile/g.
It is good Diesel mileage vehicle.
So far I love it for mileage I'm getting and performance.

Just shy of 3 months of ownership here. I've added 13,204 to the car, and have an overall average of 32.48 MPG (my math, not the car's computer.) With a high of 37.48 MPG and a low of 26.01 MPG.
