GLK250 built in Alabama?

A sales guy told me today that he has a GLK250 scheduled to be built in August and it would be at the dealership two weeks after that. Huh? It can't come from Germany in two weeks. To this he said that it was being built in Alabama.

Is this guy just full of it or are they really building GLKs in Alabama now?

Sales talk. The X204's (GLK's) are all built in Bremen, Germany. The ML series is assembled in Alabama but some parts, like the engine, come from Germany.

Thanks, I didn't think what he said sounded right at all but I thought I'd double check in case I had missed an announcement.

Now if I could just find one on a lot to test drive. No one has any and they can't seem to get any that aren't pre-sold, except for this guy who has one coming from "Alabama."

All GLK's are currently built at Bremen but that could change with the next generation US model C Class to be built in Alabama. Since the GLK is on a basic C Class chassis the US models will probably be assembled here.

Not logical.

The GLK's are now built in Bremen. The fact they are more or less part of the same platform truly has nothing to do with it. The C class cars are now built in Sindelfingen, many miles from Bremen. If their relationship was pertinent, wouldn't they both be built in the same location?

The GLK's are big sellers in Europe. There would have to be many more sales over here, such as the C class sales, and that's not likely.

Pure speculation.
