Is the 2014 GLK350 a good buy?

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and am thinking about purchasing a 2014 GLK350.

Is the maintenance cost on this car really expensive? I've heard numbers from $300 to $4000 per visit.

What about insurance, what do you pay?

Any reviews of the car from people who actually own it?

Is it reliable? Never had a Mercedes before.

Please help me out with some advice thank you.

No single maintenance visit should ever cost $4,000. $300 is about right for the regular maintenance intervals.

Insurance depends on demographics, location, your record, how much you drive, coverage limits, deductible amounts, the insurance company itself, etc. Someone could tell you that they pay $10/month but that doesn't mean anything to you if they don't match your exact situation. Call your insurance agent/company and ask what it would cost for YOU.

Yes, it's generally reliable. If you read messages here and elsewhere, you will of course find people reporting problems, but any car will have some owners who experience problems.

The car really is fantastic. My service's so far have been cheaper than the Honda Accord it replaced. My typical service has been between $200 and $500. But considering the long service interval's, its not a bad deal.

The car is safe, has great power, decent size, enough connectivity options than most people have on their home theater systems, and it gets decent gas mileage.

To me if you are in the market for the GLK, just get it. Its a great buy.

Test drove the GLK350 last week...absolutely one of the best mid-size luxury SUVs on the market. The multimedia is above-par as should be expected from a Mercedes. And yes, Mercedes is going to be a bit more costly to maintain but quite worth the financial sacrifice. The factory warranty covers nearly everything for 4 yr/50k miles and I purchased an additional extended warranty through 10yr/110k miles. I also elected for the routine maintenance/ service plan, so absolutely no $100+ synthetic oil changes for me every 3-5k miles! So to sum it up...The GLK is a great choice: reliable (but purchase the extended warranty/maintenance plan anyway), great power, excellent multimedia, and an overall very comfortable car...you won't be disappointed or have any regrets.

I got my GLK250 BlueTec in July and have driven for more than 3 months, still learning to use some functions,so far so good. I like the powerful diesel, although it is a little rough than VW's 2.0TDI but that's not a problem at all.

If you're used to Japanese reliability then I would say steer clear. There have been small issues for mine. Nothing that has repeated itself yet, except for what could be turning into the dreaded 4matic whine.

I like the vehicle but the fact that it is starting the whine and that the dealer can't "hear" it is annoying me.

I just purchased a 2014 GLK and as one of the other posters recommended I purchased the extended warranties and the no cost maintenance option. I'm not use to all the complexities of this car. So many system types. I was hoping someone would offer an online course on how to use all the systems and complex features. I'm still learning how to set the presets on the radio let alone all the voice command features. Really enjoy the smoothness, ride, and comfort for an SUV.
