2013 GLK250BT
Sound System
Andrew,
The base system has at least 4 speakers (each door). There may be two in the front dash corners, but I'm not certain. I think I saw a spec of 100W system output. (Probably, 25X4)
Performance is adequate for me (not an audiophile). You will have streaming BT and USB from a thumbdrive, but NO iPod itegration, unless you opt for it. Satellite radio is also an option.
I heard the base system with the H/K speaker upgrade, but didn't really hear $800 worth of difference. On the other hand, I listened to the upgraded system with Command Hard drive and H/K speakers and really noticed the better sound. I'm not sure if that system has increased power or why it sounded so much better.
That said, you will have many opinions about sound quality since everyone's ears and experiences are different.

Let me make a friendly recommedation - go to a dealer and listen to the Audio 20 system and the Harman Kardon - in car audio system's it only matters how it sounds to you - take your own listening disc/USB for the "price" both systems to my ears are A-OK - and I prefer the HK at the price over the B&O of the GL - and love the Birmeister of the new S-Class ..

My GLK does not have HK and I would like to make it sound better w/o changing the head unit. Will it make a difference if I change the speakers? Does anyone know the size of each speaker? Thanks!

Excellent advice since everyone's ear is different.
For me, stock sound system is good enough and beside I am not an audiophile.
