We ordered our GLK350 on September 19th. It was out of production on October 31st and arrived at the VPC in Baltimore on November 16th. Yesterday, my sales rep had his inventory manager check with the VPC for a status. They were informed that it isn't expected to be released from the VPC until December 6th - two more weeks!
They won't give an explanation other than waiting on something from Germany. Apparently, there are a number of other GLKs for this dealership stuck there for the same reason.
It is frustrating to wait and I hope it isn't anything serious or has lasting impact. Has anyone else experienced this? Any speculation on what may be the issue?

Yeah, I experienced this. I bought one for Euro delivery and it was stuck at VPC waiting for software upgrade. Best I recall, took about 5 weeks. Also at this same time of the year three years ago.

Well, will wonders never cease! Got a call from my sales rep about an hour ago - VPC has released the GLK and I will be able to pick it up sometime between tomorrow and Monday! He looked in the system, but there is no indication on what the hold up was. Anyway, a pleasant surprise after resigning myself to waiting another two weeks.

VPC arrival Nov 16th with VPC release to carrier on Nov 23 is spot-right-on-schedule for November.
Yes - their could have been a earlier VPC "release" that was pulled back - which only has to do with moving cars around the VPC for leading - that's also quite normal.
The dealer/person who told you "they called the VPC for status" was feeding you a absolute crock - dealers are are specifically NOT allowed to call the VPC for in-process status - that comment to you was all smoke..
