Just installed my roof crossbars on my GLK 350. These are OEM Mercedes-Benz crossbars. I removed the Thule plastic base attachment from the ski rack so that I could attach the ski rack directly to the T channel of the crossbars. This lowered the overall reach to the ski rack, to make it easier to put my skis on the ski rack.

Has anyone tried the cheap universal crossbars that are sold on eBay? They only cost about $60 and look OK in the pictures. The auctions don't say they are good for the 2103/4 models, but I asked one vendor and he said they would work.

I only occasionally might want to carry something on rack, so if they work, $60 is a lot better than $400 for OE.

I have this rack and it works great. I would highly recommend it if you only want a ski/snowboard rack.

The downside to this rack is that it is permanently for skis/boards and you can't swap attachments to carry bikes, kayaks, etc...
