Vibration in steering when cold
Hello,
I have noticed that when I start my 2013 GLK350 in the morning, I get a vibration in the steering wheel as I turn it for the first 5 minutes or so of driving. Eventually it goes away, but I am a bit concerned. It is audible and almost feels like the vibration you get when you turn a wheel as far as it can go to either side. It seems to happen when the weather is a bit colder. I am in Florida and am wondering for those of you in colder climates if this is normal, or if it could be an indication of a problem. I might be moving to Denver and the thought of having this happen every single morning and evening when I leave work isnt something I look forward to.

The 2013 and up has electric power steering. A big difference from 2010-2012 which used a traditional hydraulic/pump system. You can't compare a pre-2013 to a 2013 in this case. A dealer visit is not a bad idea.

I've also just begun to notice a low frequency vibration in my steering when I turn the wheel either way from the 1/2 way point to a full crank. I have a 2013 GLK and it's parked in an underground all night where almost all snow/ice melts away. The vibration does not happen when I am standing still...only moving. Sounds like a visit to dealer. Sadly this will be my 2nd visit in 10 months for problems. 1st visit was a faulty rear shock. The vibration does not go away over time. Tonight I drove for over 30 min and it was as bad at the end as at the beginning.

Update: The vibration continued over the cold winter months but went away as the temp got above freezing. During my 1st service I told MB about it and although they could not see anything wrong or hear it, some investigation did find other occurances of these symptoms in other parts of the world. They ended up doing a service on the transfer case. I won't know for sure if it's fixed until next winter I guess.
