When you say it would not turn over, do you mean the engine won't crank? Could be as simple as a dead battery not powering the electric fuel pump, or as bad as you ran it out of oil and the motor has sized. If the engine cranks but does not start, then the battery is OK but the fuel pump may have bit the dust (have you run it out of fuel in the past?) or something with the computer. Since you pulled over to the side of the road, it does not sound like transmission. Any lights or information on the dash? By now it has probably been towed to the dealer or stolen to a chop shop.

When you say it wouldn't go over 60, is that in every gear? The only thing I could think of would be the main engine computer, but that's not common, and we don't have any other real information to help. Whether you have or haven't gotten it taken car of already keep us posted. Good luck.

it would crank but would not start. It is at Mercedes right now being fixed, but i was thinking it was the CPU. The only light I got was check engine.

Have not heard much problems with the CPU's in these cars. Does sound like fuel starvation. The fuel pump is in the tank and uses the fuel convection to cool it. Running out of fuel is a cause for the fuel pump to fail or degrade to low output pressure. It will be interesting to find the real culprit.

If your car is parked for long time, you better off leaving little gas, and going straight to gas station when you start driving again instead of leaving full tank and then driving with full tank of "old" gas.

I've left cars for a couple of years, on a number of occasions, with a full tank of gas (cars with carbs., mechanical and electronic fuel injection (and no "stabilizers" added). Never had a problem starting up and running on the old fuel.
