Um, about your car/truck thingie...

I'm about as far removed from the target demographic for a compact SUV as imaginable. But my 2010 S550 was in for service and they gave me a 2014 GLK for a couple of days as a loaner. I really enjoyed that little *******!

First off, the stock audio system blows away the Harman Kardon Logic 7 in the W221. Loved it. Plus it had Bluetooth audio that worked great every time, and gave song info on the speedo display. S Class...no BT audio at all.

Ride quality is excellent too. Not as soft or serene as the S, but firm and sporty without being harsh. Very quiet and composed, and much more willing than the S to be tossed around.

Overall a very impressive machine that managed to get under my skin a little in the very short time I had it. I was a little bummed when the called to tell me the S was ready.

I'm only bummed that the "off road engineering" package isn't offered here.

It's really a great vehicle. We considered many more expensive vehicles and settled on the GLK as we felt it really offers some of the best value for money. As an aside I think it's probably one of the most attractive vehicles of this type, perhaps only exceeded by the Evoque, which we had to rule out as the rear visibility was atrocious.

Totally agree with you on the Evoque's rear visibility. Absolutely ridiculous.

Yeah, in a "utility" type vehicle, it's shameful. Don't get me wrong, I've owned my fair share of sports cars and you accept that a certain style of vehicle might have poor visibility (ie: try shoulder-checking in a current-gen Audi TT), but not when it's a daily driver "family vehicle"

The Evoque won't be a daily driver! Trust me, I've owned 5 Rovers in the past 20 years and none of them could be considered daily drivers. Maybe monthly to the dealer. I put over 450,000 miles on those things and was on a first name basis with my service rep. There is a reason the English drink warm beer, Lucas (the Prince of Darkness) makes their refrigerators I had similar problems or worse with my Jag E-Type V12 but at least it really looked good!
I put 250,000 miles on each of 2 MB S sedans and probably saw the service bay only for regular maintenance, a new starter and a vacuum pump (they were diesels). I have owned 3 more MB's and have yet to experience 1/10 the problems of any one of the Land Rover/ Range Rover products.

You beat me to the punch, I could have said exactly the same thing, including your comments about E-Types (not XK-Es... ).

Range Rovers are immensely popular here in SoCal, and it always amazes me that people smart enough to make the $$ to buy one are stupid enough to buy one.

Buy an Evoque and rear visibility will be the least of your problems...
