Wiper Motor Failure
We picked up a brand new GLK250 last month and during a rainstorm over the past few days the wipers stopped working while my wife was driving! Called roadside assistance who checked the fuse and determined it needed to be diagnosed at the service center so we had it taken to the closest dealer which took a day to even have someone look at it and identified that the motor driving the wipers was bad. Has anyone else had a wiper motor failure? I can't recall ever having something like this fail, even our 180k miles E class has the original wiper motor. Anyone have thoughts on what would cause something like this?

That '51 Merc probably has vacuum wipers. They stop every time you hit the accelerator! Some upscale cars had a vacuum booster for the wipers, but didn't seem to help.
Sorry about your problem, of course it would only happen on a rainy/snowy day. Sometimes it is not the motor but the nut that holds the linkage to the splined motor shaft, (if they still do that). Either the bolt comes lose or the splined shaft is defective. This happens mainly if the wipers were frozen to the windshield and the motor tries to move them. Can also cause the internal gears to fail.
Good luck, you seem to be a first for this problem. Hope it is not a harbinger of things to come.

Got the baby bluetec back today with a new wiper motor installed. It's great that it's covered by warranty and I'm sure glad I bought the extended warranty when buying the car, looks like I might need it!

GLK350 4matic
My rear wiper quit working on my 2011 GLK. Dealer found that the wiring harness to it had chaffed and shorted out. They replaced the bad wiring, and, its been fine every since.
