Parking Sensors and ice
Anyone else have problems with the parking alarms going off when the front is icy? I was driving yesterday for about an hour in sleet. Every time I dropped below 20mph, the parking warning would alarm. I hit the 'P' button on the dash which temporarily disables it but after a few mins, that would go off and I'd be startled again the next time I slowed down. This is the 2nd time I have had this happen when its snowing or sleeting out.
Is this a common issue? Seems to me with all the fancy sensors on this vehicle, it would be able to figure out that its ice on the sensors and maybe disable this feature on its own when its not going to work.

It's just the way the parking sensors work. If ice is blocking their "view" then they'll trigger. I only know on my old ML that when you disabled it in dash menu then it would stay off until the next time you started the car. Is it different in the GLK? I had to install aftermarket ones on my wife's GLK because she got so used to them on the ML and the GLK didn't have them. When I installed them they have a switch for the forward facing sensors to disable them for winter weather, and the rear ones are only triggered in reverse. That's a down side to aftermarket ones is that they don't have all 8 on at the same time.

That is actually not the case in mine (2014). I hit the button to disable them and after a few minutes, they'd come back on again. I couldn't figure out if it was timed or related to speed, but they definitely activate again on their own.
I don't expect them to work in ice, but it would be nice if the button to disable the function actually turned them off until the vehicle is turned off.
