Question 2014 GLK-350 Good Lease Deal? $350/mo incl. tax / $2500 down / 24 mo / $41,405 MSRP ?

Terms are in thread title.

and 12,000 miles a year limit

Heading to the dealer now and have never leased a car but it sounds like a good deal, but I am having second thoughts...

Bought my c350 from a custom order but have got married since and my wife needs a new car now but both of us have never leased...

Quick responses much appreciated as to if this is a good deal or if we could do better if we keep looking.

Thanks in advance !

Need more info (1-3 are more critical; 4-6 not as much or can be deduced based on other info) -

1. miles per year?
2. $2500 down - does that include any doc/reg/acquisition fees? Or is the entire portion considered capital reduction and above fees mentioned will be separate out-of-pocket due at signing?
3. Brand new vehicle and not a dealer demo?

4. Quoted money factor?
5. Discount or sale price (before any capital reduction)?
6. Location (state)?

Thanks for the reply! Good questions, sorry I am new to leasing. Didn't end up making it in to do the deal last night because I wanted to do more research in the trusty MBworld forums!

1. sorry, left this out (edited above). It is 12k miles/yr

2. $2500 down includes first payment and first yr registration and doc fees. It is $2500 out the door total cash outlay before driving off.

3. Brand new - says it has "11 miles on it". We will see when I actually see the vehicle though - I assume this could easily change depending on how many people have test driven it or if the records online are out of date.

4. They didn't tell me this - just gave me the info above. Does this MF #matter when you turn the car in?

5. They said it was like ≈ $7500 off MSRP I believe - haven't got the exact number, only quoted the basic terms above.

6. California - Los Angeles County

Thanks again for your help, much appreciated!

Just ran the numbers based on the info you gave and it seemed like a pretty good deal.

After you break down the $2500, about $1000 of it goes to cap cost reduction because 1st + acquisition + other fees = approx. $1500 combined.

So the true discount off MSRP is close to $6350 instead of the $7500 quoted. In any case, this is still just over 15% discount which is good.

Overall breakdown goes as follows -

MSRP: $41405
Discount: $6350
Cap Cost Reduction: $1000
Adjusted Sale Price: MSRP - Disc. - Cap Cost Red = $34055
Money Factor - 0.00098 (assuming it's RWD)
Residual (based on 24mo, 24k mi) - 0.67 (of full MSRP, or $27741, assuming RWD)

Pre-Tax Monthly Payment: (34055-27741)/24 + (34055+27741)*.00098 = $324

Forgot to mention that it's best not to put any money down towards cap cost reduction on any lease because you'd never get it back if your vehicle gets totaled or stolen.

I'd suggest pushing for just the mandatory fees due at signing instead of $2500. It may or may not be $1500 as I'm not entirely sure what the state fees look like in CA. Try this with the same monthly payment (essentially asking for another $1000 off) and see if the dealer would bite.

Worst case scenario (dealer doesn't budge at all from the original numbers), your payment will be approx. $400 w/ $1500 out-of-pocket, tax (9%) included.

Great info! Really appreciate it thanks.

One more questions for someone that is familiar with leases on this car...

How would you rate the above deal?

1 = being worst deal ever

10 = best deal on GLK-350 lease of all time that you have ever heard of

My guess would that this might be an 8?

Curious to see what other GLK veterans think

Also- they say the diesel version is a bad lease. Can anyone explain why the glk-250 isn't a smart lease?

Can't give you a rating on the deal as I'm not actively shopping for that vehicle at the moment nor I am familiar with the market conditions locally in CA.

To answer your question in regards to the GLK250 being a bad lease, it's because the money factor for that vehicle is much higher than a GLK350 (due to not being subsidized by MBUSA because of its much lower sales volume). Any residual or gas mileage gains will be negated by the increased monthly payment due to the MF differences. This is especially true if your annual mileage tends to be <12,000.

Can you explain "money factor" in simple terms? (Not really part of this discussion, but just trying to learn about leasing and why MF is important and why you would need to get it quoted at the time of the deal.)

Money factor = interest rate (APR) / 2400

I was a new car dealer for forty years. I currently have a three year one- pay lease on a 2013 GLK350. If the full payment is $325 per month with an additional $2500 down which includes the first payment and all fees, rest easy you have a very acceptable deal!

Rb I think that is a great deal. I am shopping for my brother in law right now...he qualifies for fleet. Our Msrp was 45405 and negotiated to 39.1 using fleet.

In your deal is there a summer/customer one certificate? I know you can't combine the fleet and mb certificate, just wondering.

Also, would anyone know the residual for 24 mo 15k? I know 12k is 68

Post Ended up BUYING Instead

Well, I ended up spending more money and buying a 2014 GLK-350 instead!

Here are the deal specs (just got home from the dealer and am picking it up tomorrow night after work and after they detail it):

2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class GLK350 SUV

MSRP: $50,805 Invoice: $47,315 Purchase Price: $41,705 MSRP Discount: 17.9%

+ sales tax

Options:

- Designo Diamond White Metallic Paint
- AMG Sport Package (20" AMG Wheels, Front Rear AMG Bumpers, Aluminum Roof Rails)
- Premium 1 Package
- Multimedia Package
- Lane Tracking Package
- Heated Front Seats
- Interior Ambient Lighting Package
- KEYLESS-GO

Additional Fees:
- $80 document fee
- $17.60 Electronic vehicle registration
- $271 Vehicle License Fee
- $81 Registration/Transfer/Titling Fees
- $8.75 California Tire Fees
- $20 Smog Abatement Fee
Total Fees: $478.35

Using a 1.25% loan rate from a credit union and able to negotiate a solid MSRP discount, it made more sense to buy since we always keep our cars for a long time.

I always think of the "what-ifs" had I "walked" (a second time - ended up buying after walking the first time tonight) to try to squeeze that extra $500-$1000 out of the dealer. 20% MSRP discount was my target.

There is always someone out there that gets a better deal.

I love that I got the rare diamond white metallic paint but damn, is it really worth the $1515 MSRP premium?!

What do you guys think?! Excited to be back in the forums and starting to think about my first mods!!!

You can see I got a little obsessive a few years ago with my C class

15K is typically 2% lower compared to 12K.
