BT owners.... did you know about the glow plug light?
I knew I should've read the manual sooner... but over the weekend I opened it up and read about starting the diesel engine.
You're suppose to wait for the glow plug light to go off before starting the engine... I wish the sales guy would've told me this when he did the thorough go-over with me after the sale.
I have found, even at -30 Celsius, the plugs heat up VERY fast. I've never seen it light for more than 2 seconds if that.

I was just shocked that the Benz sales guy didn't mention it... He made an appointment with me to bring the car back and spend a good 30 minutes go to over every feature of the GLK...
You haven't hurt anything; if the glowplugs weren't hot enough the engine just wouldn't start...

If your car starts, glow plugs, or something else, did its job. You can't hurt itl
Salesmen are sooo knowlegeable! In test diving a car I got in and started it right away. Never noticed the glow plug light. I asked the salesman. He very knowingly advised me the car sensed your approach, lighted up, and by the time you got in to start, the cylinders were hot enough to fire up!
I don't know if in extreme cold, as in Canada, the light stays lit any longer, but in my moderate climate, if you blink, you miss it its that quick!
