Tires

My GLK needs new tires soon.
My recent search in Tirerack and it comes up with Michellin LTX and Hancook Ventus S1 evo2tires as NEW tires.
They are in the same price range but a bit more than Pirellis.
Does anyone here tried or have any experience with these tires?
I am currently have Pirellis.
They are good but they are noisy when they are worn out a bit.
Basically I am looking for better tires but will stick with Pirellis if I have to.

I put Michlin 20 inch Pilot AS3 on my 2010 glk. When I got my 2015 250 glk with Dunlop grandtrex mo tires I could not believe the difference. The Dunlops are MUCH smoother than the AS3.s.I drive the 2010 once and a while so I can compare. The Perrilli's on the 2010 were harsh with poor traction.

GLKpaul. I am looking forward for your personal review on the Michelin Premier LTX tires.
I am also leaning toward the Michelin tires.
I've called a couple tire shops and all of them have to order these tires in.
One shop even tell me that these tires were not released yet. LOL
As you pointed out, there were a lot of positive reviews online.

Glad you are enjoying them, i've had several sets of dunlops on various cars and just never been impressed with them on the whole. I hope your experience is all good..

Wrapped the new rubber on late today, just 25 miles of city driving but here's initial impressions ( these are subjective not scientific )

Smooth ride, quieter than the stock pirelli run flat 20's, alot quieter on newer pavement, 15-20% on old pavement, concrete not tested.

Handling is great on dry pavement, no noticeable tire movement in tight corners, train tracks better than stock, still stiff given the profile size of the 20 not unexpected but more compliant than stock.. So far happy as pie...

I'll do some highway tomorrow....

Couple of short highway trips today, nice and smooth, on good pavement i could not hear anything over the mild wind noise, so i'm happy with that aspect.

Ride was extremely smooth and crisp handling, running up to 85mph - it was all good.

Need some heavy rain now, then snow in a couple months..

I am glad you're happy with these tires.
It good news for GLK owners 'cause we have a little more choices now.
A year ago, I visited a tire shop and it took them about a minute to tell me that I am basically have only one choice, which is the same Pirellis that came with the car.
He said the other tires were available but not a good choice for the GLK.

M-Class
Sounds like a good choice. Looking forward to see an update regarding their traction on wet pavement.

Just an update.

I had these Michelin Premier LTX tires for more than 6 months now.
I am happy with these tires.
These are my observation.
Dry traction - excellent
Wet traction - excellent
Road noise - Good
Snow traction - can't really comment on this because I have a set of snow tires.
Tread wear - excellent

Thanks - that my experience as well - snow was OK basically equivalent to factory Pirelli run flats I'd say or close to. LOVE how quite these are and cornering is A1!!
