Thumbs down Rough Idle, Check Engine Light

Hello,

Last week our check engine light came on in our 2014 GLK 350. It idled a bit rough when first starting and backing up, it has happened in the past but nothing ever happened. After idling rough the engine light came on so I took it to Auto Zone for them to check the code. The code came back with a bad coil one. I made an appointment to take it to the closest dealer on Friday. Between that previous Sunday and the day of the appointment the light went off and the dealer could not find any issues. Well the light came back on today so I will be taking it to the dealer again. Anyone know what could be going on?

Thanks!

Yeah... you could have a bad coil ;-)

If there is definitely a coil problem it could come and go depending on vibration or temperature. Could be the coil or the connection to the coil.

Thank you for your response, I will check the connection to ensure it is making good contact. I did not think to do that.

Thanks!!!!

Can't hurt to check but again, if that's even the problem, it could come and go with vibration/temperature. The connection may be fine but the coil block could have an intermittent internal defect.
