Wheel lug bolts?

Hi,

I am looking into buying a 2013 glk350 with about 47k miles. Everything else seems OK except the lug bolts are rusted. Any ideas why this might be?

Rusted lug bolts?

Can't tell from the picture, are they original or replacement lug nuts? Cheap aftermarket lug nuts can rust pretty quickly. If there is no rust elsewhere I would not worry about it.

Might be due to techs using air guns on the nuts when they rotate the tires

Thanks for the responses! Below are a few more pictures. Can someone tell if these are the stock lugnuts?

The front rotors also seem to be rusted. I know that this GLK was mostly parked outside for the last 4-5 months which, I am guessing, might have caused this, but the back rotors seem OK. Thoughts?

Lugnuts. Are these aftermarket?

The front rotors seem to be rusted as well. The back ones are fine.

Back rotor. Look OK.

My 2011 lugnuts look different, but I am not sure what MB used on 2013. Personally I would not worry about lugnuts or rotors, if everything else looks good. The calipers look really nice, which is a good sign. I'd stick my head underneath and see if there are any other signs of rust. If it's just the lugnuts and the rotors, they are cheap enough to replace.

the lugnuts are factory but there are updated ones now for this concern. you can either get black ones or some that have stainless cap on them they look a little chrome(ish). the front rotors are aftermarket.

My lugnuts (bolts, really) are like this - http://www.ultimategarage.com/shop/p...oducts_id=6249. They do require a special socket though http://www.ultimategarage.com/shop/p...oducts_id=1425.

Again, I would not worry about rusted lugnuts or rotors, but I'd check to see if anything else is rusted.

Thanks again for the quick responses! I am glad to hear that this isn't a mechanical concern.

I would like to get them replaced from a cosmetic perspective. lyonkster, thanks for sharing the link to the ones that you have.

I have a 2013 E350 that has the black ones and I would prefer those (never noticed them before). Rocman8, any chance you can share a link to the black ones?

Yikes:
Technically, they are screws (not bolts) but nobody calls them that. They're certainly not lug nuts.

Looks like a lot of salt or road chemicals. Probably a lot of other rust underneath.

I bought My 2013 GLK and the lug nuts looked exactly the same. Took it to the dealer and they replaced them under warranty at no cost.
