2010 Glk 350 cranks, no start

While I just got a cam sensor error, my car cranked continuously, but failed to turn over and start. Battery is good.
Has 80,000.
Anyone real knowledgeable on an intermittent starting problem ?

Is replacing the cam sensor something that you would say a general beginning mechanic can do himself? I have removed a valve cover from a Honda and vw, but not Mercedes. Are special tools required or any particulars likely needed?

Thanks

With your limited experience you will do just great(no special tools)----just don't fall into the cheap aftermarket parts syndrome---use an OEM part in this instance!!
