I'm coming up on my 40k mile service for my 2014 GLK250 and part of that requires changing the fuel filter. Has anyone done this or have any literature or videos that could help me do it myself. I like to avoid the high cost of the dealer. Thanks!
Subscribing. I just had my 40k Service B done and decline the fuel filter. At least until the next A service or I do it myself. It would have been close to $1000 to do everything they wanted at the 40k service B.
Changing the fuel filter is super easy. Two metal clips hold the canister inside of the plastic holder and two metal hose clamps hold the hose onto the two nipples for input and output. I ordered got the filter at the dealer and they gave me two hose clamps.. make sure they give you new ones.. took less than 5 min to change. No mess. started on second crank attempt after changing the filter.
Did you bother with priming the filter before attempting to start it? I've heard its good to prime it to avoid wearing out the battery but if it started on only the 2nd attempt then that doesn't sound bad at all. Plus priming it sounds like a pain. Thanks for the info Seth.

Just changed mine and had the same experience. I ordered the filter and hose clamps off the internet. Just a little fuel leaked out. Started in the second crank for me as well. I think I was quoted over $400 at the dealership. Filter was $110 and a few dollars for hose clamps.
I have a 2013 GLK250 and found this information for the fuel filter on alldata. Does it seem to fit what you guys have done? On my Cummins pickup I changed my fuel filter every 10k, and wanted to stay on top of it on this car as well.
Fuel filter (2) with fuel/water separator, shown on model 204
Unscrew bolts (1).
Pull condensation sensor of fuel filter with heating element (B76/1) out of fuel filter (2). Release condensation sensor on fuel filter with heating element (B76/1) from fuel filter (2) if necessary by screwing in 2 bolts M6 x 40.
Replace O-rings (3) and moisten with fuel.
Insert fuel filter condensation sensor with heating element (B76/1) into new fuel filter (2) and tighten bolts (1).

I usually do my own servicing, but with 4 cars, decided to buy the prepaid maintenance for the GLK seeing it was new and under warranty. Cost about C$1600 but one selling point was that the 4th service would included changing the fuel filter. So, about $1200 for the four A/B services excluding filter. Includes DEF which can also add up at dealer. I figure it's only money....
I get my GLK serviced at a German specialty shop... they charged about $150 all-in to replace the fuel filter. I don't think the part it's self is much less than that
Whoah 400 at the dealer...? Yeah find a german parts place on google maps near you and get it there. Dont forget to pour the fuel inside the old filter onto the new one to lube it up a bit and smudge it around the o rings if it comes with some. Then turn car on, let it idle 5 mins and you're good.
