B Service

B Service
My GLK is due for the B service - I plan at least completing the oil and filter changes. Is the B service really required? Anyone know if there are any computer updates I may be missing? Thoughts?
At my dealer the B service is $450

B service
I just took my ML350 for B service a couple of months ago. I did what some people call an "al la carte" service. I got the list of things they do in the B service from the owners manual and just chose the ones I thought were important. Why have them check and replace the windshield wipers if they are not needed or you can do it yourself. Just a suggestion. Just off the top of my head, I remember I chose, oil, filter, cabin air, and a one other filter (can't remember what it was).

I don't have the manual near me, what all is needed for that one? If it's the service with the fuel filter, then you can do that yourself. I ordered the 40k oil change kit from idparts.com. The fuel filter is rather pricey, but very easy to swap on your own.

I couldn't say on the ML350. But, I was speaking to pls. I have a GLK250, like they do. If they plan to do an oil change on it, then they aren't far from doing a fuel filter change, and it would save even more at the dealer.

Service B
Service B in Toronto is $767 according to the MB website! Lots of checking & looking at wear & tear on stuff that seems not needed for a 2015 vehicle.
I am already over the mileage by hundreds as I cant get it in for another week or so.

What about brake fluid. It is a must every 2 years or 20K miles. I will say I did skip the fluid change on my first 2 years being that I had about 13K miles on the car. I'm going in for the second B service at 4 years on my 2012 GLK350 and I will definitely do the brake fluid along with oil. The maintenance book says transmission flush is a must at 40K or 4 years. I have 27K miles. I have had a lite wobble feeling through the steering wheel at very low speeds. It comes and goes and a rattle sound from the front end on occasion. Three times I asked to have it checked over three years but always the same comment that they can not find anything. This last service under warranty I will bring this up again. I am going to a different dealer hoping for different results. I've had 2 ML'S and 2 SLK'S since 2000 and I feel that Mercedes service has lost it's exclusivity over the years. They do sell millions of cars.
