Motor Mounts
Hi all!
It's been a while since I've posted anything here but I'm still loving my 2011 GLK350.
Took it to the dealer for an unrelated issue and they told me two of the three hydraulic motor mounts are leaking and need replacing.
Also, the serpentine belt idler puller is making noises and should be replaced as well.
The service guy said I was too far out of warranty for them to do anything about it.
My issue is the car has only 36K easy miles on it; am I wrong for thinking these parts should have lasted longer..?

Nope, not the motor mounts. They all leak, no matter the model they're good for about 3-4 years in my experience with them. I've replaced them on my e's and c's.
The car rides much much better with new mounts.
I'd fix the pulley as well, a failure there could cause a cascade of costly problems.

I'd love to find some solid mounts so I won't have to do this again.
Thanks for your input...

Recently had a shop do the motor mounts & trans. mount on our 2010 at 64.5K miles. Very surprised as to how much smoother it is with the new mounts. Truly remarkable. Wonder if there is as much an issue on the later model (2013+) models with the new 3.5 petrol engine. This engine has a 60 degree v-6 as opposed to the earlier 90 degree design. The newer engine should be much smoother from an engineering viewpoint than the earlier. 60 degree primary & secondary vibrations cancel which the 90 degree does not. Also, it is my understanding that the new engine does not require a counterbalance shaft to quell vibrations which imo is a very good thing.

All the new hydraulic type motor mounts fail much sooner then the old rubber type, my old Acura TL had the issue, E500 same issue, now the GLK. The hydraulic type is much smoother at the expense of longevity, I would gladly buy non-hydraulic mounts that last much longer if it were available
