Cost of 40K Service B
Just had service B done at EuroMotorCars in Bethesda, MD. I fill the DEF myself, and I also had a 10% discount coupon from a competitor, that Euro honored.
Despite that, and despite the fact that my GLK (which we love) checked out perfectly (needed no extra work), the bill was $1100. Had I not had the coupon, and had Euro filled the DEF, the bill would have been over $1300.
Question: is that normal?

I do my DEF (~$12 for 2.5 gal), Oil change (7qt*$8=$56+filter $12) $68, Wiper Blades $43, Brake Fluid (Pentosin $14), Cabin Filter $18, Tires Rotation. All these tasks are easy to do.
I never did "fuel filter replacement" myself yet, but looking forward to do it next summer when my GLK is up or will let dealer to do it.
I am not going to spend $1100/$1300 on Service B, I would rather spend money on extended warranty.

Everything on the 40K checklist was done (except, as already stated, the DEF, which I do myself): [BTW we do have the 7 year MB extended warranty.]

I agree with Alex, the "Stealers" and Euro shops charge way too much. Usually I just do the differential on top of those items listed. Really the fluid changes and brake flush is super easy. Just serviced my 13" GLK last weekend, did the work myself, and including the brake bleeder tool cost me around $180. That's Oil and filter, brake bleed, coolant flush, clean K&N air filter, swap cabin filter, plus a good wash and hand wax
If you don't mind putting in the time, doing the work yourself gives you peace of mind that it is done correctly, plus it save the wallet strain. I know from my experience; when I had the dealer rotate the tires after the first 10,000 miles, they over tightened my lug nuts. I feel better driving it knowing its serviced correctly.

Page 12 states "Diesel Engines. Replace the fuel filter every 40,000 miles or 4 years."

For same car, I bought the pre-paid maintenance here in Canada. I paid C$1550 for the first 4 services It now costs C$1699 which is about US$1260. That is for 2-A and 2-B services and includes the fuel filter change which in my case was just done after 3 years.
Are they a Mercedes Dealer? There is no way dealers would be charging that much. Might be worth calling a few other dealers and asking what the cost of the 40K B service would be.

Service B
I was told today my next service at 60,000 needs a B and it will be 1100.00. I checked the other dealers in town and that is the going rate because they change the spark plugs. I thought it was ridiculous.

On my CPO 2013 GLK I got 3 years unlimited miles warranty and 3 years unlimited miles maintenance for ~$2k. Just wish I drove more to take advantage of the unlimited miles lol
My first service since I have owned it is due in a few weeks, it will be interesting to see what they do. I have 23k miles and it is a B service.

Saw this on-line $112-$114 to change plugs on 2010 GLK350.
https://www.yourmechanic.com/estimat...gs-replacement
Prepaid maintenance is usually for just the first two A&B services and doesn't include expensive work (Does include fuel filter on GLK250)
