what to do when regular gas put into ml350 diesel

Depending upon the dilution rate and how long the engine was run with a percentage of gasoline will determine the potential damage, but obviously you know that the complete fuel system must be flushed or purged or what ever of all combustible fluids and I doubt that you have all the equipment\experience to accomplish the job correctly.

I'm no expert, so I would suggest calling an Independent.
However,
1/2 gal isn't much.
I know when I get my oil furnace cleaned (pretty much diesel), they use at least that much kerosene to flush the sludge from the system.
1/2 gal gas to 15 gal std diesel? May not require a drain.
Call an Indy.

Gasoline is bad news for clean diesels. I can cause damage to engine as well as emission systems. Do not drive the vehicle. Have towed to dealer or mechanic. Tank needs to be drained. Fuel system needs to be cleaned. Gasoline lacks the lubricity of diesel. It can make a real mess.
