Replace spark plug cost?

2013 glk rwd 58000 miles

Labor $310
Plugs $ 110
Total $ 420

Seems very high.

Reasonable?

Seems high to me. Cost of plugs is $40/set at Amazon https://smile.amazon.com/Mercedes-Be...words=yr7mpp33, so probably around twice that retail, so $110 is not too bad.

But I replaced mine in half hour, and that was my first time https://mbworld.org/forums/glk-class...ml#post6727849. So unless they did something else, or charge $500/hr, I can't see $310 in labor.

Do you notice any improvement in performance?

Nope, ran great before and after. But I'm a stickler for routine maintenance, and it was time.

Probably charge high labor to cover the cost of the one time they cross the threads in someones head and need to do a Heli-Coil. Aluminum heads can be a killer.

If this happens I'm not paying for the tech's mistake.

Thanks! Checked w dealer. Quoted $650 for replacing plugs.
Hard to believe if as easy as some suggest. Alas.
I like to think there's a difference but probably just
to make me feel better. 58000 miles w reg dealer maintenance and not one thing has had to be fixed/adjusted for life of car.!0/12 purchase.
Knock on wood.

I posted pictures to prove it! Easy peasy! $650??? Yikes.

Wait, I take it back - mine is a 2011 - maybe they made significant changes for the 2013 model that affects access to plugs?

Quoted $540 by my MB dealer. Looked at the link for the how-to above but that is not the same motor in ours. We have a 2014 GLK. Wish ours was like that, I would be done in an hour. I have yet to find a how-to that matches the engine in the 2014. Any help would be appreciated.

You can utilize this guide from a SLK350 (or ML350, E350, C350):
https://mbworld.org/forums/c-class-w...moval-diy.html

I personally think that method is retarded. If You took the extra few minutes to remove the intake plenum it would be less aggravating to remove. In addition, you can clearly inspect some more parts of the engine with the cover removed

I will be doing a write-up myself in the near future.

Good luck! let us know if you encounter any issues! Don't forget to pick up a dedicated spark plug socket and the spark plug grease.
