Aftermarket real fog lamps
The daytime running lamps on my 2014GLK350 don't do a thing for me. In the fog or heavy rain they are useless. I don't think the things they sell on E-bay are any better stuffed into the area where the running lights are. My fog lights on the old 2010 actually worked. Has anyone installed a pair of Hella's or others on the central grill of a 2013, 14, or 15 GLK. If so, do you have pictures?
There are Big and Small round ones and rectangular ones, but I can't determined what would look best, so I am asking for pictures or other ideas
I will probably install a switch in the center switch panel and I guess I should relay them so they are off when the High Beams are on.
Should be a nice little project.

I was looking into fog lights also, I had the regular halogen headlights and instead upgraded the bulbs with ballast to Hid from Philipsxenon.com
i don't need fog lights now. The only fog lights I saw that look good and would work were from Piaa, a flat wide light that would fit in the bottom grill area. But very expensive.

I do like the wide beam PIAA RF bars Would you go with two 6" units spaced on either side of the center grill or a or a single 18" centered? Price would be about the same. Anyone have a picture?

If you really need light go two, the Lumen output of the small isn't much I think, I think those are the only lights like that that are actually legal and don't scatter light everywhere, but dam they are expensive, contact Piaa for a lumen rating, I think you need like 3000 to really help, but the HID conversion of the main lights is cheap and fixed my issues

Would you be so kind as to share the part numbers from philipsxenon that you purchased? I'd like to do this very thing with my '14 GLK250. Any issues at all with the computer, flickering, etc? Or is it all good? Thanks!

I had my ballasts installed on the wheel well , I think in the factory instal they are down low in front to keep the ballast cool. When it’s hot out and after I park I’ve had lights fail to light, I need to change the ballast location to a cooler area. And maybe there is a better ballast. Other than that the lights are great. Ask the people at Philipshid conversion what to use and mention the heat issue and see what they say. the lights are about 2.5x brighter than halogen, you need to aim your lights all the way down to not blind people.
