22" led bar mounted.

So I mounted this 22" 200w curved ledbar.Well worth it!
This is not a DIY because the wiring was a pain in the *** so I had my local merc dealer deal with that.

I think the light is a great idea but is it legal?

In the US, for the most part, these kind of lights can only be illuminated when off road.

Your workshop looks a bit rudimentary. Testament to the hardiness of Scandinavians.

In europe they're legal. But you can only use them together with your high beams.

My garage is so full of crap that the car won't fit, so I had to do it outside.

200 watt @12 volts is a 16 amp draw. Are these LED's and equivalent to 200 watt? Who makes this bar?
You said the wiring is a night mare, do you know how they were wired in. I would imagine that a current sensor on the high beam wire to a relay, somewhat similar to the pickup used for aftermarket trailer lighting would work along with a dash switch. Power direct from the battery with an inline fuse.
Great way to have the extra lighting. Nice job.

The only light bar legal in the us is made by piaa, but it’s real expensive

I hate those things but I do understand they have a valid use. However, the idiots around here think they can run them day and night without consequence. Unfortunately most are illegal except for off road applications which is their design intent.

I was looking for extra Fog lighting. The ones on my old 2010 GLK did a great job. The ones on my 2014 are useless. They are day running lights and do nothing to light up the sides of the road in fog or rain. Since they would not be driving lights, I suppose they don't need to be connected with the high beams, but the 2010's were.

Yes, I like the PIAA RF 6 7206 for wide spread fog. And they are SAE-F compliant. The housings are cast aluminum rather than plastic. Now I need to find a switch that will fit into the row of blank switch locations in the dash of a 2014,. I can use the power plug (cigarette lighter) in the consul for a switched power point for the relay. Either 2 of these or one RF18 (7218) in the center.

The Piaa might come with a low- high setting switch, I was going to get them but did HID conversion instead, much cheaper
