Smile Problem with foggy windows.. does this happen to many GLK?

So im having some problem with fog inside the car, my windows become really foggy and it allmosts drips from them. This happenss when it is between 0-12 Celsius outside! I’ve checked for any wet spots inside the car but can’t find any... I’ve noticed 2 other GLK cars around here have the same problem.. is there any known fault for this model?

First time posting here!

Never said where you live but I will bet Canada and probably park outside. The humidity has been very high lately and the windows very cold so the moisture condenses on the window. Moisture from you, passengers, coffee, floor mats, seats, etc. The picture says put on the defroster to heat the windshield. Without that on there is very little air motion in the vehicle as it is fairly air tight. Common problem, I believe it is even handled in the manual.

I live in Sweden and i park outside, but thats not the problem! As i said, ive checken everywhere for wet spots inside the car, even dried it over night with a heater! Other cars dont have this problem that i park next to, so im wondering what could be the cause of the extreme fog on the windows while it is parked? While i drive the car and the AC and everything is on i dont have this problem, only when its parked! The fog stays for about 2-3 hours then goes away by itself!

My wife's GLK has had this problem since we've owned it. Also without any other sign of leakage inside the car. My first guess was a clogged drain for the sunroof, but I had those checked and they were clear. I still have not found the cause.

My wife does have the habit of turning off the A/C, as she is convinced that it makes her cold (despite my explanations that it helps dry the air). But using the A/C doesn't do much to help keep the condensation issue from happening.

We've just dealt with it, let the car warm up and defog.

Check the cargo area, take out spare tire or toolbox, push on the bottom of cargo lining if there isn't water under it, I had around 3 cm of water under it, I had to dismantle all cargo, took out rubber plugs and drain the water out...when I was looking for a leak, I found very wet acoustic insulation right behind the right tail light, when I flashed in with the flashlight, the inner side of the both D-pillars were totally dewy...I have no idea where the water came from...by the way, I live in Norway and also park outside...

I bet you one of the exterior seals is allowing water in.

The condensate drain could be clogged not allowing AC condensate to drain out. It’s supposed to be checked periodically.

You also may have a small coolant leak at the heater core. Keep an eye on the coolant level to insure this is not happening. In the '60's,70's,80's and 90's this was a sure sign of a bad heater core. Replaced a bunch, but not in Merc's.

Moisture somewhere

Check carefully the areas under the windshield, the corners that are not easy to see or clean do have a habit of collecting all kinds of stuff in there...
the areas where water goes down from your windshield. And all rain when it is standing outside.
I found large amount of leaves, needles etc from trees there. If they block the drains down there, you could have moisture and humidity coming in from those leaves and junk.
Is your cabin freshair filter clean and dry too ?
