Glk radiator fan, overheating issue
I own a 2010 glk350 80,xxx miles. As of recently my car has leaked coolant due too overheating. This prompted me to investigate and what I found was that when running around 90-95 degrees my radiator fan never turns on. If I switch the a/c on the fan runs fine . I’m wondering if I have to have my Sam modual replaced or if it could be sensor not communicating somewhere down the line.
Any thoughts are well appreciated
not sure if my answer is in good time, but Did you check with your multimeter the Voltage from the connector, the one just before the fan radiator (near driver side) ?
just to be safe, keep the engine OFF when you are there, pulley or fan can be dangerous.
on the connector they have 4 plugs
2 Big and 2 small wire
Big : + 12 v (red) and a Ground (brown)
Small : +ign (white) PWM pulse (blue)
Check with a multimeter if you have +12V and ground with brown or somewhere else.
if no power, check fuse near the battery ( where you jump start the car when battery is low) if i remember it's a 100AMP fuse (check on ebay / amazon)
If you have power with ground somewhere and no ground on the Brown wire, check if the wire is melted, or a loose in the connector ...
PWM, usally, if no signal the fan is on high every time,
+ign, juste check when the car is on you receive a +12v on the white cable
