New thermostat

I replaced the thermostat in my brothers 2010 last night. I didn't realize till this morning that the "Genuin Mercedes Thermostat" I bought from Pelican Parts is 100c. I know the one the from the factory was an 80c. Should I be concerned as that is a big jump? Also, the radiator fluid i bought; Zerex g-05 is yellow and the fluid in the vehicle was blue. Thanks, Scott

I think that's fine as long as it's consistent. What does the guage read? I did mine last year, it was a wahler thermostat. Guage now shows a constant 90c, while the torque app shows a consistent 98c. Before the guage used to read between 80 and 85 and struggling to hit 80 in very cold weather. I had the yellow stuff originally, mine is also a 2010, but the dealer sold me the blue stuff, which was still 325.0. don't think the colour matters as long as it is the 325.0 spec coolant

You could boil out fluid continually from a 20c increase. Use whatever is recommended. I would be sure whatever fluid you use is designed for that vehicle. Fluids are designed for corrosion protection with the various metals in mind. Just putting in what you want is a mistake. Parts like thermostats and even radiator fluid make no sense buying aftermarket. Buy factory parts for a few bucks more so you know it’s done to factory spec.

Everything I have read states the Zerex G-05 is 100% compatible with the Mercedes coolant. I do believe you need to dilute either one, they are not premixed. I think the biggest issue with the coolants is the silicates. You need a silicate free coolant for aluminum otherwise it can detoriate the aluminum. That's what i remember anyway from my wifes SLK 320
