No sound from front left speakers

2013 GLK 250
No sound from front left speakers
My GLK 250 with Comand Navigation audio has been behaving strangely in the past few months. Randomly, usually from the time of engine start, the front left set of speakers does not work. The rest of the other 3 channels play music as it should. This happens with all media type, including radio, memory card, etc.
Recently, I figure out how to get the non-working channel back to life. It is by ramming up the volume. All of a sudden, it came back to life and usually it will stay on for the rest of the trip. I don't hear any sound difference once it's on. And when it's off, it's the set of speakers that is in the front-left channel that's off. Not just an individual one.
Any one has experienced this? Where should I start to look for to locate the root cause?
