iPod/MP3 media interface not reading my iPod Nano
I was told by the dealer I should get the MMI adapter with the older 30 pin style with an adapter to break down to new style Apple with lightening adapter. Ordered and plugged it into the MMI adapter inside center console (I have a 2014 GLK350 4Matic) and selected audio then media interface and it starts searching and says no device connected. Any thoughts on how to get my iPod connected and registered with my stereo media interface? The dealer rep said I would probably need the actual OEM cable in order for this to work which is the same as what I bought on Amazon. I am stumped.
What am I doing wrong or do i need to get something different to get this to work?

My glk came with the old 30 pin iphone adapter cable like yours
I have a genuine apple 30pin-8pin adapter (which i think actually makes the difference of working or not)
then I bought on amazon a 3 foot apple lighting extention cable for 8$
Just got it set up yesterday and works like a dream
This is the 3ft extender not apple i used:

Not sure I understand. When I plug my MMI adapter pictured above the stereo is not recognizing the ipod when I chose the media interface option under audio. I am asking why this is happening and how can I get the stereo to recognize my iPod and work? Are you saying I need to also buy lightening extension connector as well? Not sure how that would work with what I have pictured above.
Thanks

The cable is not the OEM Mercedes-Benz MMI adapter cable though. I bought the one in the picture off Amazon. I originally had the MMI adapter to 8 pin and that did not work. MB service tech said I more than likely need the MMI to 30 pin cable then the 30 pin to 8 pin adapter. So I got that setup and still does not work. Read somewhere that maybe to reset the command system? I will lose all setting and anything store but that helped someone finally get thier iPhone to connect via the MMI adapter.

As it turns out you do need to buy the OEM MMI adapter from the dealership. Sad but true. I bought two versions of aftermarket on Amazon for $23 and $46 respectively. The one that works from MB dealer is $122!! Go figure.
