2010 GLK350 Bumper Step Pad Removal - HELP

Hi Everyone,

I've been searching for hours and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I have a chrome step pad on my bumper of my 2010 GLK350. However, unfortunately it's dented and I would like to replace it.

I have no idea how to remove it or even where to find a new one to buy (all the ones on Ebay and other auto parts websites don't seem to be exactly the same as mine). They seem to have a different clipping system than what I'm able to see.

I'm able to pry it up on one side (closer to the front of the car) but the other side seems to be clipped in and won't budge. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Haven't seen it myself, but I'd assume it's a bumper off job.

I've bought parts from genuinemercedesparts.com before and had good results.

Look into links regarding the removal of the rear bumper cover for the installation of a factory hitch & you might find the answer. You could remove the interior trim behind the spare tyre & peer into the underside of the bumper cover. The pictures in the following link will give you an idea of how it attaches. From the position of the tabs, it slides forward & into place on the bumper cover.

I was really hoping the bumper wouldn't need to come off for this but it seems that it probably will. The problem I'm having, after prying the trim piece and peeking at the mount tabs, is that the mounting tabs look different than any of the trim pieces I'm finding for sale. Both the pieces on genuinemercedesparts.com and the eBay link provided above seem to have different mounting tabs, not sure what I'm missing..
