Evaporator leak

Got some bad news today my a/c evaporator has a leak, mechanic tells me whole dash needs to come out, big job. Looking at $3000 (Canadian) to do the work. Also needs two coil springs in the back as one is cracked.
60,000 miles on the clock.

I was quoted 2200 -2400 (canadian) by a mechanic I trust. I will go ahead with the repair, because I really like the vehicle.
