2009 GLK280 - ECU Faulty - ECU Repair

I came to drive my beloved GLK280 on New Year's Eve, it started fine and after a 2 minute drive to stop at a store to buy supplies for dinner and then it would not start. Would not crank, all electrics were working, radio, lights, windows, steering lock released etc etc. Showed Tire Pressure Monitor Inoperative message on the dash along with another message which I can not recall.

Took it (had it towed) to two Mercedes shops and they both diagnosed the fault as the ECU being bad. So they have quoted me equivalent of $3500 for a brand new ECU.

One of the service guys told me that the 2008/2009 ECUs (not sure if he was referring to W204 or X204) are known to be unreliable. Is this true?

Now am looking to have the ECU repaired if possible. Any recommendations as to where I should go to resurrect my beloved GLK? I live in Dubai and am happy to send my ECU to Europe or US for repair.

The ECU part number is: A 2721539891 / A 0034467740 / Bosch 0261209398.

Get one that has just been removed from a working glk , you might get lucky and not have to pair it to your glk. About 200$ delivered from eBay .

Thank you for the reply, how lucky do I have to be to not need to pair it? Also does the ECU part number have to be the exact same one? At present did not find anything on ebay with the same part number, except for repair service in Germany,
