Antifreeze smell.. 2015 GLK350
My wifes 2015 GLK350 has a smell of antifreeze at front of car, drivers side at grill. When I open the hood it is by the radiator. There is no fluid , steam or signs of fluid anywhere. And it only smells when hot, after driving it.
I have no smell of it in car, with heater on.
Thoughts?

I will get ahold of dealership this week and schedule a check of the system.
We just had the 58000 mile oil chanhe and had transmission serviced.
With all the checks they do. You would think a antifreeze and system check would be on their list.
I did squeeze hoses and held them with leather gloves. No water came out. Nothing on garage floor.

I checked this morning, its full and an Orange color. Oil is clean, no signs of milky oil/water mix...
Just a concern, as I am a little OCD on maintenance. And I really dont want to track a water leak within this car.. Its still under warranty...

The tank should not be full more like half full , your manual will show what is full, since you said you recently had it serviced , if they overfilled it, when it’s fully hot excess fluid will come out by itself and smell. The tank is an expansion tank and needs room for the expansion of the fluid.

Well if that’s your actual level it’s WAY , Way , to high . As I said it should be at near 1/2 full , so blowing off excess is normal , and it’s Not normal to overfill and stress your career cooling system. , which you are actually doing !

I will check it in the morning. And take some out if need be.

I’m not sure on height of fill , but if it’s not near half , your just over filling it yourself, and blowing out excess from the Pressure release . And stinking it up like antifreeze.

Don’t take out anything , the Pressure Relief does that automatically. You have nothing to worry about, unless the level goes below the Indicator, (the blade) or a light comes on .

Okay, I just went out, opened it up as we ust got home a few minutes ago. I used a turkey baster and removed fluid, kind of a pinkish color, to the level recommended for warm/hot. More to follow.

I have been noticing antifreeze smell around the front of my 2015 350 as well. The level is in the reservoir is normal to slightly low. I poked around with a flash light and I can't find any residue indicating leakage, but I only looked in the easily accessible areas. I plan to give it a more thorough inspection next time I change the oil.
