2015 glk 20k miles LOSS OF DRIVE transmission - reboot fixed, please comment
Wifes 2015 glk, she backs out of parking, tranny acts like wheels spin/slip. Cannot engage drive or reverse. Cannot move car. Revs spin with throttle application but no drive/movement. Shuts car off/on (reboot) Cars works normal.
I don't have MB diagnostic tool to pull codes, so dealer trip to pull codes? Tranny control module? What do you all think?

AutoZone and other parts stores should be able to read codes for you for free. Could start there if you don't want to go all the way to the dealer.
Is this a 4Matic or RWD? It sounds electrical, like the parking lock release mechanism or something more sinister with the transmission control module itself.
See if there are any codes set.

My 2014 glk250 did this to me once when I stopped at the grocery store after driving home from work. I got in, started it up and shifted to reverse and then nothing. I tried all other gears and nothing engaged. I was about ready to call for help when I thought to turn it off and restart it. Sure enough it was completely normal after the restart. It did not happen again in the following 3k or so miles until I got fed up with the diesel emissions issues and traded it for a new glk350.

It's definitely not normal, but the fact that it has happened to others makes me feel somewhat better about it.
Any chance you had just washed the car before parking it? I know when our GLK gets left out in the pouring rain for hours on end, some electrical gremlins rear their ugly head.

Hey all,
I pulled codes with the Torque app (IMO a very nice app) and a bluetooth generic obd2 plug. NO CODES whatsoever, pending, historical, etc.
I don't think the dealer would find any either, obd2 is a USA federal standard.
So we are going to just drive it. I'll update is needed, but expect this is one of those one in a million computer/elec hiccups.
Now to wash it.

Question, did u happen to replace your blind spot sensors yet? I remember I had the weird electronic problems before i replaced the sensors and the cable. Once i did the replacement, all the weird issues has been gone. Go take a look under your rear bumper, there are two in total, one on each side.

So, not actually spared
Good point on the sensors, I had those replaced under warranty a couple years ago. Corroded harness and sensors caused Blind Spot Assist deactivation and turn signals didn't work properly.
I don't think that would cause the no shift into reverse issue, but maybe it contributes to it?
