TPMS module location

Hi All, this is my first post here (not first time visiting) - I cannot seem to find any information here and my dealer has not been helpful.

Our 2012 GLK350 has a defective TPMS module (the computer, not a wheel sensor). I can't seem to find any type of diagram showing the location of the module to even be able to access it, pull it and get a part number. There is some conflicting information as to whether it is located up under the dash on the passenger side (near cabin filter) or under the backseat. It may possibly be located somewhere else entirely. There also appear to be 2 possible parts, one is a small, black rectangular module with two mounting tabs and the other is a slightly larger white rectangular module with a short antennae protruding from the module. I am wondering if the part was redesigned at some point in the 2010 to 2012 GLK models.

Can anyone confirm the location of the TPMS module on a 2012 GLK350? For what it's worth car has AMG package and 20 inch wheels, if that matters.

Thank you.

Here's the part: https://www.mbpartsworld.com/oem-par...bC12Ni1nYXM%3D

I'm not sure where it's located either exactly. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

Thank you, very helpful - now it appears that there are two module components!

Thanks

not necessary, it may depends on system, which you have in car, there are 2 options for flat tire warning...one is TPMS - this needs sensor in each tire and is more precise - newer years of GLKs, other one is based on suspension level sensors...so you need only one module for system equiped in your vehicle..

Interesting, thank you - I was told specifically by the dealer that the module was defective (not a wheel/tire sensor), my system is clearly the sensors in the wheel / TPMS system not the suspension sensor.

I suppose the easiest way to check is to go inside the wheel well area and check which module I have. The dealer did not give a part number.

Thanks!

That link in now dead. Is there any chance you could post up a screen shot or new active link? Mine's a '15 model, so it has the individual TPS sensors in the wheels. The sensors tested fine, so I purchased the the module (Part # A0009000800), but I'm having no luck getting a diagram of where the module goes. Obviously from reading above its behind the rear driver wheel, so I'll start digging around there tonight but the diagram would be great to have.

Thanks! I have a '15 GLK250. That diagram appears to show it in the interior behind the tail light, but I didn't see it when digging around in there yesterday. I guess I'll have to look closer.

I removed the panel in the hatch (the one intended for tail light removal) and moved the amp out of the way but still no TPS module. I'm lost or clueless - maybe both. Thanks anyway.

Are you sure, you have a TPMS system? Because GLK can be equiped with 2 different systems for tires..one is TPMS - this shows you exact pressure in each tire and another one, which is based on suspension level sensors and this system informs you only about flat tire...

Honestly I'm not sure. Here's what's displayed on the gauge cluster in case it maters. I'll do some research on the suspension based system and report back.

Hey Grip Grip - I know this thread is ancient, but did you end up finding where the TPMS module is? I have the exact same issue on my GLK 250.

Did it just fail? I put in new TPMs and it took days to work again . Did you check codes or fuses? In back of rear seats is the auxiliary battery and a few electronic modules .

Yes, I’m stuck. I’ve taken it to 3 different garages and no one can find the TPMS module (the device that receives the signals from the sensors in the wheels). I’ve looked under the rear-right axle and the the storage compartment in the drivers side cargo area. Nothing.

How long have you had the GLK? Has the tire pressure system been working since you have had it? Are you in Germany (DE) or Delaware, USA?

I’ve owned the vehicle (2015 GLK 250 Bluetec) for 5 years and the TPMS system has functioned fine until a couple weeks ago. The vehicle is US Spec but is located in Germany (I am stationed over here)

If you go into the tire pressure menu do you just get blank spaces or a line where the individual pressures should show up?

When it was functioning; yes. Now it just gives me the message “Tire Pressure Monitor Inoperable”.

The Mercedes technician read the codes from the vehicle and for the TPMS monitor section it just shows an ‘exclamation point’- which, according to him strongly indicates an issue with the TPMS module (all individual tires sensors tested good). We just cannot find the module anywhere in the vehicle.

@MBNoob4 ...

Here's a direct link to Post #5 ... that post provides two PDFs, one for pre 2010 and one for post 2010 models.
Might be helpful, maybe not (?)

Thank you- we had the vehicle on the lift earlier today and the technician looked in this exact spot, but couldn't see anything... At this point, I would Venmo someone $20 if they can definitively locate this thing.

I know this is on a w220, but easy and quick enough to check.

Front right side footwell. Remove floor mat, pull back the carpet at the top of footwell, check behind step plate.

Here's the manual page for a 2014 GLK250,

Item 10 in the illustration. Forward of the picture in post #10,

You don't need a lift. It's somewhere inside the rear compartment, on the left hand wall, forward of the picture in post #10.

HTH

Note that they recommend downloading the old module and uploading to the new one. Not sure how you do that if the old one is dead, or what the work around is.

Thanks for the info, John- I searched that entire compartment from top to bottom and couldn’t find it. I’ll give it another shot today and report back.
